Good to hear of new owner, will try again

I am glad to hear there is a new owner, who is friendly to same sex couples. It is interesting that previous posters were "sad" to hear of Louisa's apparent homophobia (see earliest posts) but perfectly willing to recommend it anyway. Thanks for being an ally! (Note sarcasm!) That said, it has been many years since I tried it, but I did enjoy the food and atmosphere. Perhaps I will try it again someday.

Good

This place is pretty good and very, very family friendly (lots of kids running around)! The breakfasts are great and the portions are smallish so you don't leave feeling too stuffed. Also, I think one of the old Project Runway contestants works at the counter (Blayne).

love it

Did not have bad service - in fact it was great. My bf ordered the adovado and she heard u wrong but made us the correct meal super fast and got us a free desert - the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake thing was awesome! I got the baked macaroni cheese and the baked fruit and cheese for an appetizer which was to die for! it was very romantic and low key the night we went, so perfect for valentine's day! TRY it!

Order to go only

The new breakfast table service is slower and removes the neighborhood feel of Louisa's. The food is great but weekend service isn't worth the wait. Either get your order to go or go somewhere else.

I Dream of the Blackberry Cobbler

The Blackberry Cobbler at Louisa's is truly one of the best desserts I've ever had. I live away from Seattle now, and make sure that every visit back involves a trip to Louisas for this taste of cobbler heaven. I love Louisa's!

Miss the old Louisas

Lost the character and community appeal. Miss the coffee refill $ jar. Definitely not the place it used to be. Went the way of the Still Life in Fremont. Sad.

Raspberry Muffins you will crave

I found Louisa's last year when meeting a friend and have been back many times since. I live on the eastside but have to drive near there at least once a month for work. I look forward to my trips just for my stop at Louisa's. The raspberry muffins are fantastic, they have a TON of raspberries and are very moist (make sure to pickup some napkins if you are taking them to go). I take a couple home each time for the family and now they look forward to my trips almost as much as I do! The staff is super friendly and the place is cozy and inviting. The last time I was there I bought three of the Peanut Butter Cookies and brought them to my client. They are HUGE and very good! In my multiple trips I have tried probably 60% of the items they have in the bakery case and there isn't a single one that I wouldn't buy again.

Best Berger Ever!

We have eaten at Louisa's several times, but we had dinner there on Saturday to try out their new menu, and I was absolutley blown away by the Lamb Burger! The slight crunch of the broiled lamb combined with the cool mint relish and the smooth sour cream sauce, served on a warm chiabatta roll, made me drool with pleasure. The burger came with a greaet grean salad topped with strips of Parmigiano-Reggiano. I was so full I could only eat a spoon or two of the wonderful peach bread pudding we shared for dessert. We ate like royalty, drank great wine and our bill came to about $36! You must try it!

Bread Pudding is show stoppingly good

There are a number of reasons to come to Louisa's. First, it's a really great value (nothing on the dinner menu is over $14 which puts it into the casual dining price category). Second, it's a wide open friendly place. Amongst the intimate 4 and 2-top tables there are longer communal tables and you'll frequently see some social energy around them. Lastly, the bread pudding is one of the 2-3 best desserts in town, period. I mean it's ridiculously good. With the vanilla creme sauce drizzled on top I challenge you not to make obscene noises while eating. It's the menu highlight, but there are some other standouts (mac n' cheese!)

Oh, and regarding the review earlier citing homophobia... that was for a previous owner (the review was from 2007). I know for a fact the new owner is very same-sex couple friendly.

very good

my boyfriend and i live in the area and had never been, Everything was great - mac and cheese, chicken enchiladas...the baked cheese appetizer was AWESOME!
try the $8 brownie, cheesecake, peanut butter dessert and share. it is very rich but worth it!

i too was sad to read the review about the couple being asked to leave. We had very good service and no complaints. I would try it. plus they are on the gift certificate list on the Stranger website, spend 17.50 and get a certificate worth $35! very good deal. Try it!

Louisa's now serves dinner and the food is great! They are open late Wed - Sat till 10 PM for dinner. This is sit down service not order at the counter. It is comfort food with generous portions with a good wine selection. Love the tacos and pork chop with apples left nothing behind it was sooo good! New owner has made some positive changes so if you have not been in lately you should give them another try.

good food, good people

I was sad to read the previous post because I think Louisa's is great. Their sandwiches, salads, and baked goods are delicious and it seems like all the people working there are pretty cool. It has a little bit more of a community feel than a lot of other places in Eastlake.

BAD service

I do not recommend this place. In fact I tell all my friends to avoid it. A woman (the owner I think, Louisa herself) asked my girlfriend and I to leave the restaurant. Her exact words were, - in a tone of total revulsion - "you two need to take your display of affection elsewhere." We were not making out, we were sitting next to each other and my girlfriend was helping me get something out of my eye. When I confronted her on her HOMOPHOBIA by asking for my money back since she had refused me service because I am gay, SHE DID NOT DENY this was the reason.
