NOTE: Temporarily closed, reopening in October 2009 in a different (but nearby) Ballard location. The Jolly Roger Taproom is brewpub meets pirates' lair, complete with a treasure map painted on the floor. Beers are from the family-owned Maritime Pacific Brewery, and the menu offers both cheap pub grub and fancier entrees. People love the onion rings, oyster sliders, and fried pickles.

No Happy Hour

They serve a fine brew at Maritime. Only two problems, no happy hour and sliders got nothing on them. Plain ol' mini burger that I could have got at Dick's.

I live in Gtown

The mini burgers are so good here I want to cry. I love the fish mini burger. The onion rings are very good with this dish. You really can't go wrong. The only draw back is parking and it's always packed when I go there. But it's to be expected since it's really good grub.

Don't tell your friends

I almost want to give a horrible review to keep new customers from competing with me for tables, but simply can't. The Washington Beer Lovers (WABL) passport brought us here where we found delicious beer and cask conditioned treats, but we keep coming back for the amazing food. I had expected regular pub grub, but got huge crab stuffed white prawns beautifully plated with two amazing side dishes. (Sat. has a more standard bar menu) Unlike another reviewer reported, the wait-staff have never been short with us, even when really busy. Even after having only been a couple of times, and being absent for several months we were remembered on our return and welcomed. It's our clear favorite in Seattle.

Great beer and fun food menu

I love the Jolly Roger taproom - very low key with focus on the beer (generally there is something special on tap that you can't buy at the supermarket) and surprisingly good food. All of the mini 'burgers' are great and the onion rings worth the splurge.

Beer, Food Good, Service Bad

I agree with the other reviewers on the quality of the food and beer, it is far above average. However, I have found the servers to be snotty and a little short with customers.

Yum

Delicious food and the beer is the best. We only go there when it looks empty-ish because it can get really crowded and extremely noisy. I second the notion that they should be open on Sundays...

Rosemary! mmm

This place has great fries to go with the good beer. They serve genuine mountains of rosemary spiced fries for quite cheap. Arr!

Ballard Bacchanalia

Oh jeez, I get excited just thinking about this place. BEST PUB FOOD IN SEATTLE! I dream about eating at Maritime like I do Paseo. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The l'il burgers are awesome, the smoked onion rings are phenomenal, and the lagers and hoppy ales are exceptional. There's even a beer pairing guide on the food menu. Very small (six tables and a bar) so sometimes it gets too crowded to eat but well worth the trip. If only they were open on Sundays...
