Restaurant Details

  • It's an extremely hot oven that makes a pizza worthwhile, that coaxes out a nutty, crisp—but not too crisp—crust. A few places in town have done well by the crust and La Vita e Bella is one of them. In addition to pizza, they also serve up authentic and tasty Italian food.

My Favorite Belltown Restaurant

I always get the pizza here, and it is always amazing - especially the Rugala. The simple but delicious thin crust pizza plus a comfortable yet slightly romantic atmosphere makes this place my favorite!

There food might be fantastic...

...but they wouldn't let us try it! We were seated pretty quickly when we walked in, and were thinking it looked pretty cute (we were a little bit nervous for the waitress who literally had to scale the wall to get a bottle of wine, but we shrugged it off). We sat down and waited...and waited...and waited...about 10 minutes later a busser brought us water and three pieces of sliced baguette. I asked for a drink list, which she said she would bring. We waited some more...and some more...so I decided to take matters into my own hands and ask the bartender, very nicely, for a drink list. As I started to speak, the busser tapped him on the shoulder and he turned his back to me, raised his hand to me in the universal sign for "you are unimportant I will get to you when I am done with this more important matter" and I continued to wait for about another minute, his hand in my face, as he spoke in length to the busser about something I couldn't hear. When he turned around I was informed that they don't have a drink list. I went back to my table feeling confused. We sat around for about another five minutes, but having finished our three slices of bread a while ago, we decided to leave a tip for the busser and cut our losses. Who cares how good the food is when the service ranges from rude to non-existent?

la famiglia italiana

The same italian family has owned this since its inception and then opened the wine bar in Ballard. If you get to know them, they'll offer their family to house you when you make your way to Sicily. Nice wine, soccer on the tele, and traditional Italian fare, never over spiced make this resonably priced restaurant worth your while. Out door seating and friendly staff makes this a family favorite.
