Ended up at Lombardi's only because I couldn't get into Senor Moose for brunch...eleventy people outside waiting to get in.
This was maybe one o'clock on a Sunday afternoon. Walked up to Market, and saw several outdoor tables open at Lombardi's. What the hell, why not. Well, there's a reason they were empty.
Ordered OJ and the Sicilian scramble with hash browns. Nothing fancy expected, just basic competent chow.
The OJ was clearly just Tropicana or something out of a box or can...terrible. The hash browns were amazing...the hash brown "unit", I will call it, was obviously fished out of a stack of thousands which had been frozen...an incredibly thin disc of, basically, government surplus potato product. I wouldn't get caught dead eating at Denny's, but I can't imagine the hash browns being worse. I actually felt amused and insulted simultaneously.
The server was very good; I felt sorry that someone so friendly and competent has to serve airline food. Next time, I'll stand in line for Senor Moose instead of being a wuss.
I absolutely love their food. I spent my college graduation dinner there and have wonderful service and a wonderful meal. I've never been let down when I went. As for a date it would be expensive but well worth it.

There's nothing special here. Its a good place for suburbanites who feel like slumming it in the city. Look in the window and you can see their fat asses and smug faces as they slop down mediocre food thinking its high class. Maybe its high class to them but for the money you can eat so much better.

No haute italian here- just good old fashioned spaghetti and meatballs, with a side of garlic bread. Nothing stellar, but sometimes old-school strip mall italian is what you feel like eating.
