Of course, if you talk about Kau Kau, you have to start with the meats. There are few places in the Seattle area that interest me to this extent. What's best? I can't say. The duck. Exquisite! The Bar-B-Que pork, Sooo good. The ribs? The RIBS!!! None better. None! Many say that the duck is too greasy &/or too bony. But then, that's the please (and pain) if it. The pork is flavorful and not at all dry. Perfect. I can't sqay anything(nor can anyone I care to hear) bad about the ribs. Again, perfect! The rest of the fare? Good.

Does one or two things very very well

I ate here about three months ago, had some chow mein with barbecue pork which was great, mainly because the roast pork in it was great. We also ordered a duck for take out, and it was excellent as well. The main reason to come here is for roast pork or poultry. I can't say I have a lot of experience with the place, but the food was good and cheap, the wait staff was perfectly courteous to us, and I did not see anything to worry me about the sanitation there. I definitely will go back!

after going with friends reluctantly for over a year i have noticed the following..first off KAU KAU means eat eat now to me it means RUN RUN has inadequate hand washing facility restrooms spell terrible..always have to send back fork and contact surfaces appear not wash or the food..the FAMOUS bbq pork is always fatty and at certain times of the day you can catch it hard as a brick or even on one occassion un-done..the chow mein is gummy and sticky and always has this stick ball in the center..the fried rice has a burnt taste and the fried prawns has a dough texture to themm if i ask for extra hot mustard the staff acts like i am robbing the place..but there is one GOOD thing about KAU KAU it is the PRICE PRICE...

The food was solid. Really good. The ambience was vintage mid-'70's. The service was friendly and efficient. But best of all was the waitress/kitchen helper who would walk by our table while she shuttled between the kitchen and dining area, look at us and our plates, and proclaim, "Good!"

BBQ like whoa.

Though all of the traditional dishes are expertly prepared at this ID mainstay, the side pork should be your first stop on the menu. Crackled skin, a hearty layer of fat, and a base of salt-roasted meat are the official Chinese rebuttal to a posited holy trinity. When you're done eating, pray for a quick and painless coronary.

The ginger duck with pineapple is a dream. The vegetable sides are simple fresh and very well prepared. I love this place!!

Chinese BBQ goodness

I cream my pants at just the thought of their BBQ fried rice and BBQ pork.
