I work a few blocks from here. At 7 am I can count on the doors swinging open and the coffee being hot. I can order my favorite, the Diner Scramble, and substitute anything I desire. Cottage cheese or tomato for hash browns? No problem. The coffee keeps coming. The generous plate of protein arrives within minutes. The cops in the alcove room keep it real. It's a great breakfast at a very fair price with an owner/waitress who keeps the place humming like a reliable dimestore Timex watch. Nothing fancy, just keeps on ticking.
Friendly service, great diner food. I wish there were more places like this around Seattle. Most other restaurants in the area are pretentious, over-priced and packed with people who are not from Seattle trying to act like they've been here all their lives. Authentic.

someone needs to tell the owner patty to get over herself and be nicer to her help.....we have several times overheard her overbearing manner and are offended for the people who have to work for her, she is kind to her clients, but the milkshakes are not worth listening to her talk about the servers behind their backs when they are not there to defend themselves.

Our young family found Planet Java after leaving the Magic Mouse Toy Store a couple of years ago. We LOVE it! We visit Seattle every summer from Alabama and always make a point to eat there at least once. The boys enjoy the burgers and amazing shakes and the chicken sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. The food is typical diner food but so much better and the atmosphere is kind of kitchsy.

I love Planet Java Diner. I've worked in Pioneer Square for 4 years, but it wasn't until my boyfriend told be about this place less than a year ago that I realized this gem existed.
The food is not only tasty, but the price is right. I have enjoyed everything I've had on the menu, and make it a point of going at least once a week.
Whether it's the omelettes, a turkey melt, or a chicken caesar salad, you won't be disappointed.
