Restaurant Details

  • Purple Dot Cafe serves an insane variety of food: dim sum, regular Chinese fare (noodles, rice, etc.), chicken wings, teriyaki, spaghetti, french toast. It's weird, but, somehow, it works, and it's all pretty good, too. Plus, they stay open late.

Worst Restaurant in Chinatown

Dirty, expensive, poor service! Never, never go again!

Insane variety of TERRIBLE food

I was shocked by this restaurant's terrible service, and complete inability to prepare good chow mein. The interior of this restaurant is cheesy, and full of young student-types who have no taste for good food.

Don't bother even walking past this joint. And somebody should stop the tourists from making the mistake I did!

My Opinion

Purple Dot Cafe isn't as cheap as it was before and the food quality has gone downhill. I wouldn't really recommend this place to anyone because in Chinatown it's hard to find parking and look around, there are many other options other than just Purple Dot. I personally think that serving traditional Asian foods is good enough. If you wanted american food, there's tons of it in other places and who would want to have waffles with their teriyaki? Personally, I wouldn't.

gross

i just wanted some vinegar for the noodle soup that i ordered and i had to wait a long time until i finally caught a waiters attention for a bottle of some. when they returned, they put a bottle of vinegar that clearly had 3 fruit flies swimming in it. it was disgusting.

I came here on a recent roadtrip, with my boyfriend, so i could meet his family. His parents wanted to try out this place, so i gladly let them pick the time we could meet there, I mean, I was also well curious about this place too. We made reservations for somewhere nice in the back a few hours before the desired time. We arrived at the restaraunt hours later and the waiter forgot all about our reservations. We ended up sitting in an area with noisy todders shouting and jumping around. I was getting frustrated and made a bad impression on my boyfriend's mother. My boyfriend's younger sister ended up having diarrhea from eating their bland food, which in my opinion, was over cooked with oil.

NO NO NO

Gross. When this place first opened i thought it was an interesting Denny's style type of asian restaurant but on a recent trip i found that the food was bland and disgusting. I had a hard time even eating my won-ton soup, which had crunchy and mildly rotten tasting shrimp balls in it. The prices have gone up and the food has gotten worse, much worse. The atmosphere is weirdly like Disneyland and the service was slow, in-comprehensive, and rude.
