From "Unreserved" Applause to "Undeserved" Applause
Yes, I rated this restaurant five stars earlier. When Jennifer owned and operated it, I ate their almost weekly. Jennifer sold the business a few months ago, and the service immediately plumetted. Despite this, four friends (including "Renton Cowboy") and I recently decided to give it another try, hoping the new owners had found their groove. My friends were served their meals, and I sat waiting until they were all nearly finished (roughly half an hour), because the staff chose to handle several takeout orders before serving me (and likely forgot my order altogether). When the waitress FINALLY brought my meal, I received a tepid apology, with no effort whatsoever to keep my business. Rather than make everyone else sit and wait for me to eat, I refused the meal and went WITHOUT dinner that night. I will NEVER go back. If I could change my earlier five star rating to ZERO stars, I would so so.
All of the meals here are quite tasty, far above what you receive at your typical teriyaki spot. The bento combo's are an amazing deal of teriyaki, fried rolls, salad, miso, rice & tempura - all for around $9. Good ingredients, seems to be mostly made from scratch (no Sysco teriyaki sauce in a jug) and you don't get skimped on take out orders. Very friendly.

I don't live on the Hill anymore, but whenever I'm in the area and have a big appetite, I stop in for a Bento Box (I recommend the beef Teriyaki with a fresh roll). More courses of tasty, fresh food than I can count, for less than 10 dollars!
I agree with the reviewer above--Jennifer is friendly, attentive, and gives great service even when there's a crowd. If I lived on the Hill, I'd be getting take out from there at least once a week!

When I go to a restaurant, I want great food AND great service. A restaurant can provide me the best food in town, but if their staff is incompetent or rude, they'll never see me again (and I'll write letters).
The food at Chopsticks is consistent, absolutely delicious, and in large portions. When I lived nearby, I ended up there more than once a week. Now that I've moved well south of Capitol Hill, I still end up at Chopsticks several times a month. Why? Service! Jennifer immediately recognizes my friends and me. She knows what I'm likely to order (Mongolian Beef) and exactly how I like it. She knows that I'll want a Diet Pepsi, and that I'll want a wedge of lime in it. She knows that my partner is deathly alergic to onions, and sees to it that he'll never have any onions in his meal. She knows that I despise carrots, and makes sure they're skipped in my food. Jennifer treats every customer with warmth and courtesy, and she makes regular customers feel like they're visiting family. We almost never have to ask for anything, as she either anticipates our needs, or observes them before we have a chance to ask. Consider, by the way, that Jennifer is the only person waiting on customers, yet she keeps up with all this! Does this woman ever rest? She's absolutely amazing, and her restaurant is an absolute joy to visit.

Several of my friends and I eat hear nearly every week because our first few experiences were so great - and we've never been let down. Jennifer knows what we usually order, and it's not uncommon for me to sit down with my regular beverage choice just a few steps behind when I come in alone.
The food is great, too. I always have a little left over to take home becuase the portions are pretty good sized as well.

The Pan-Asian choices are (authentic) delicious and of good portion. Within walking distance for the many residents. Cozy and clean dining interior for at least 28 seats. Also speedy take-outs with your cell-phone. Few steps from Metro Bus stop for #43.

My girlfriend and I had been wanting to try this place and boy are we happy that we did! What a tasty meal! The portions were huge and the prices very reasonable. The waitress was friendly and personable. I've eaten at a lot of "teriyaki joints" in my lifetime and I haven't had anything this good in over 10 years. We will definately be going back soon and often.

I recently relocated to Seattle, since moving here I have eaten at at least 15 plus Asian restaurants. This by fare is the best Asian/Teriyaki I have yet to have. They have totally spoiled me with the supered quality of food and speedy and amazing customer service. I now eat there at least 4 times a week or more! Great place to go for 1 or 10. Very gay friendly! The price, quality, potions and customer service and connivance, there is no other place in the city to match it! GUN BAY

This little place is right by my apartment and I gotta say---the quality has been consistent. I am not ashamed to admit that I ate there 3 times my first week in Seattle. The portions are great, ingredients very fresh, and the service is super-friendly. And I am actually half way out the door on my way there now....

This location has turned over a few times... The old Jo Jo's Teriyaki is no longer there after three different owners. (Side Note - The first Jo Jo's was the best.... the others left a lot to be desired)
The location is now Chopsticks. The new owners have done a great job of remodeling. The place has a definite "fast food asian" feel (and you can easily pick-up-and-go), but they also have great seating. The new space is larger and really modern. I like the artwork and the colored chopsticks on each table.
Chopsticks (like the old Jo Jo's) is your typical "pick-up-and-go" type of place, but Chopsticks has a larger menu with lots of variety and THEY REALLY DO IT RIGHT. When they say "pan asian" they really mean it - Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai.
There really isn't anything on the menu that you can't get elsewhere - teriyaki, udon, bento boxes, stir fry, sweet and sour, phad thai - but they do everything RIGHT!!!!! And the portions are HUGE! You really get what you pay for.
Definitely give these guys your business. You won't be disappointed. The owner is REALLY A SWEET LADY and VERY SUPPORTIVE OF THE COMMUNITY SHE SERVES. We love going here and you all should too.

I go here a few times a month as it's only a few block from my house. Service is always very friendly, the owner even remembers some of the strange variations I have done to my order. I've tried much of the food and it's consistantly good. Well above average when compared with other Teryaki and Pan Asian restaurants.

My friend and I weren't expecting much when we walked in: a combination of how empty the place was (past peak lunch hour, admittedly) and how we were offered forks on arrival. But we were very pleasantly proved wrong. The food at Chopsticks is reasonably priced, arrived in unexpectedly large quantities, and tasted better than average. It's not the best Japanese food we've ever had-- but it's still pretty damn good. Everything had a good flavor and texture, from the tempura to the udon. The vegetables in the tempura had a good, crisp-but-not-unripe consistency, and everything deep-fried was deep-fried well. I left satisfied and very, very full, and will keep the place in mind.
