  • This nationally renowned Caribbean sandwich shop serves pork sandwiches that routinely cause full-on freak-outs. Dan Savage submitted this review via text message: "12:04PM What’s the name of the damn sandwich again? [Caribbean Roast sandwich—Eds.] 12:07PM Straight fucking uphill for like 12 fucking blocks. You said Fremont. I feel like I rode to Bellingham. 12:09PM I’m having an asthma attack. This better be worth it. 12:13PM Line out door. Can’t breathe. Extra 15-minute wait for this particular sandwich. No lunch item worth time, trouble if not served with side of fries, blowjob. 12:22PM Got sandwich. Very greasy looking. Heart attack next? 12:27PM Sandwich delicious. 12:28PM Impossible to eat in dignified manner. 12:29PM Worth trip, wait, attacks (asthma, heart). 12:29PM God, this is good. 12:32PM Haven’t been this greasy since... I won’t say when. 12:37PM Told self to think of ass, health, only eat half. 12:38PM Ate whole fucking thing."

Delicious Cuban FOOD!

The other reviewers must be trying to keep the line short. Everything is good. It's a food cart. You know it's good when it's so messy to eat you run out of napkins.... It's worth the line....

The sandwiches are good but watch out for the rest of the menu.

I have had some great Pork sandwiches there but now that I am on a no bread diet I have tried some of the other dishes on the menu. The 6 oz chicken breast and the fish dinner were major disappointments. 13 bucks each for a tiny amount of inedible meat. The Beans, Rice and Salad were the same generous amount and good quality. The Fish and Chicken were small, old, hard and tasteless. Seasoned with Cuban spices? Nope. Fresh? Nope. Well prepared? Nope. They made their rep on Sandwiches.
Stick with the sandwiches. The rest is a crapshoot.
Oh by the way. Any street vendor in Miami has sandwiches this good. You are Cuban impaired here in Seattle.

Love, love, love the sandwiches! Perfect bread, delicious generous portion of meaty goodness (or not... the onion sandwich rules)! Used to go once a week during the winter/spring and definitely would have given this location 5 stars THEN.

However... summer has been a sh*t show at this beachy location. Have visited around 6 or 7 pm 6+ times in the last month and they have been out of bread (and therefore sandwiches) every frickin' time. The cashier states that it's because the owner doesn't want them to have any bread left over at the end of the night.... fair enough but, running out by 6? Wtf? Also, this last Monday I got there at 7:50 and was in line to order (entrees... since they were out of bread), after the man in front of me finished ordering I stepped up to the counter and was told that they were closed. They close at 8 but really... they didn't want my order?

Have given up on this place. 2 stars only because the sandwiches still f*ckin' rule.
