Hi Small town!
I'm one of the youth volunteers for the radio and I know exactly where you're coming from when it comes to the levels of blind hatred towards the LGBTQ community, especially its youth. Granted, living in NY suburbia is not generally a difficult place to be LGBTQ. However, I have observed within my own school a lot of underlying bigotry that is very difficult to address because the abuses are usually verbal and don't leave obvious marks on the students who are attacked for being different. Hopefully, our little radio show will reach outside of our immediate geographic area to educate and reassure those who are not as fortunate as some. If you have any questions whatsoever about the show please feel free to email me at nora@wdfh.org!
