Loved your rant today, Dan. The state of healthcare in the US drives me insane, as do the arguments for keeping it the way it is. Really, only rich people, people who have thus far been lucky enough not to have had any serious health problems, and idiots, think that the healthcare system should stay as it is.

Healthcare in Canada is not perfect, but I know that had my parents been living in the US, they would likely no longer own a home and would be in a ton of debt. I had serious and rare eye problems as a child that would have resulted in complete blindness if I didn't have access to the medical care (read: expensive emergency surgeries and hospital stays) that I had access to. I also would likely be dead as a result of medical difficulties in my teen years and twenties. So what kind of life would my parents have? What kind of life would I have?

Looking after only yourself may look great in the short term, but in the long-term it does not benefit the majority of the population. What if you have a child who needs a heart transplant to live but you can't afford it? Why does that child deserve to die? What if your spouse or parent gets cancer and does not have access to the care they need in order to recover? The States is such a rich country, yet people suffer and die all of the time because others can't think past the present. In a society, individuals should look after one another.

I am so grateful that my parents were welcomed into Canada when I was a child because, had we lived in the US, I'd either be blind or dead. And as very hard working immigrants, my parents would have nothing but debt and sorrow left in their lives. That sounds like an American Nightmare.

@16 - Exactly!!!!

Ok today's podcast made me want to bash my head into a wall.

I miss the tech savvy at risk youth soooo much! They would have gotten Dan stfu after ranting for a good while at the beginning of the show. I have NO PROBLEM with my husband watching porn. He does it while I'm in the room. He beats off to it while I'm in the room and I'm not in the mood to do anything. I sometimes watch with him if I'm in the mood and then we go and have some awesome sex.

You acknowledged, Dan, that the women listening to you are very likely not the women who would download that BS program - and yet you went on, and on, and on, and on, and on ..... ad infinitum - or so it seemed. And THEN, instead of getting to the calls, you and Lucy went on about the size of her HANDS. Seriously????

Thank GOD (and I don't even believe in god) that this was Lucy's last show because I wanted to scream. She would CRY if the guy she was making out with didn't have a boner?? She thought Dan was being SERIOUS when he told the guy to get circumcised??!! And best of all, she made faces when the guy called about his wife fucking him in the ass???!!! "Oh I feel scared for him" she says in her annoying baby voice. OMFG!!! I have a strap-on. I fuck my husband in the ass after he gives me some awesome orgasms. He loves it - I'm not a lesbian, and he's not gay. We can both do it without being insecure or babies about it because it's FUN for both of us!

To the caller, if you're really nervous about it, you can get strap on for "starters". They aren't as good but the fake dicks (in my experience) tend to have more give and are not as large (they don't look as scary). Then move on. Learning how to reverse roles can be a blast, so enjoy it! And Dan was right - beat off while she's fucking you in the ass. You will end up with a great orgasm that you could not get if your prostate wasn't getting stimulated!

#4 - I thought it was just me! I remember him talking about that as a consensual agreement in the past, but I've also heard him talk about it as cheating more than once.... so I don't know if it started off as cheating and the couple eventually came to an agreement that that person could sleep with other people or what.

You know, I'm re-listening some of the podcasts 'cause it's been a while, and I have to say that I completely disagree with you on the topic of holding hands with your partner. I think it's a cute way of showing affection without doing something like making out in public (which I would never do). I hope that my husband and I never stop holding hands. To say that it's just for teens or the elderly is just silly.

#7- Yes that did bother me and I completely agree with you!

If you are so unsure about birth control, you should be using condoms (particularly if you don't know each other super well - it wasn't really clear how long you've been together and how many times you've seen each other). I agree that for your first time it would be ok to go without and to take Plan B (I have taken Plan B a couple of times myself after 2 separate mishaps with condoms), but even if you did wear a condom, it would still be "the real thing" (your words, not mine). When my husband and I first started dating, we opted to use condoms and birth control because we were not financially stable enough to have children and wanted to lower the risk. Now we just use condoms because birth control does not agree with me, and after 6 years of using only condoms, we have not had any unwanted pregnancies.

As Dan said, "the worst case scenario" is definitely worth talking about. And keep in mind that even if you were to both agree on abortion before getting pregnant, either of you could feel differently if it ever did happen. Not trying to scare you away from sex - sex rocks (though the first time is overrated if you ask me ... but no one did so I'll shut up). Have fun! :)

Oh my I think having Lucy as a permanent co-host would be horrible. I really like the woman that Dan used to do his radio show with and it would be awesome if she could come back.

I'm also tired of the name calling. When I express my opinion about Lucy (or anything else for that matter), I don't call everyone who disagrees with me an "idiot" or "stupid" or "juvenile" or a "hater" or anything else negative. I feel everyone has a right to their opinion - and it's kind of sad that others don't respect that.

That being said, Dan is a big boy - he doesn't need someone directly on the podcast with him every time. I've listened to all of his podcasts up until now and it's obvious that he's fully capable of running the show on his own. But he will do whatever he wants to do. If he loses some listeners for a while because of that, then so be it. Every decision has consequences of some kind. You can't please everyone all of the time. So even though I do not enjoy listening to Lucy, I'm resigned to the fact that she might be around for a while and I *may* not listen to those podcasts. I'll live, and so will everyone else when she's gone.

The difference is that the "tech-savvy at risk youth" are not actually ON the podcast. Dan can have Lucy in the same room with him without putting her on the air.

Anyway, it was nice not having her on. I hope that she is not on every time she is in Dan's presence. Once in a while is ok.
