Wait, what? Courageous Conversations was specifically written for professionals working with K-12 students. The book itself wasn't meant for students, but the curriculum inside it is.

Thank you for posting such a brave article. Having to wonder if jail is the safest place for somebody you care for is a scary, isolating thought. I work in the mental health field and have struggled significantly about the best way to balance helping and humanizing my violent clients. I can't imagine what it's like to be the loving mother of these children (and adults).

@9 I think banning surrogate motherhood would indeed imply just that, but right now the regulations and support systems just aren't there. Similar to my feelings about prostitution, it's not about banning it outright, but putting protections into place.
