Yeah, it's a copy of that.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 'girl Fight Club' if it was... y'know, written by a halfway competent writer. Which Ms. Yuknavitch is not.

"Girl butt", indeed.

"It's the eye of the violent storm you call my teenage daughter." -- Really. Who the hell talks like that?

Good to see Jason doing so well - all healthy and smiling! Also nice to know that the Pacific Northwest has become a welcome haven to another southerner like myself.

Or, more specifically - I guess I should say *which* RPG were they all dressed up for? O.o

Hiring someone to be a major player in a company that's devoted to women's health that has a vested, religion-based interest in making sure that women don't get the care they need is corporate sociopathy at its most toxic. But then, so is refusing to remove carcinogens from the products your company is hocking.

This 'foundation' is no longer concerned with all women's health - just rich Christian womens' health. Guess it shouldn't be surprising since that seems to be the on-going narrative these days - if you're not white AND rich, then you just don't deserve to live.

This 'foundation's decision was made out of ignorance, pure and simple, and based on nothing more than woo-woo claptrap and their desire to keep cramming their pockets with rich white lady cash donations and cha-ching from their store and pink-ribbon-slathered products. Ugh.

His wife married an idiot. Next thing you know, the dipshits will be allowed to get married, then the nitwits, then the morons. THEN WHERE WILL WE BE?!

"Am I the only one who read #17's comment as obvious sarcasm, making fun of the common lesbian notion that all evils (particularly sexual ones) are perpetrated by the patriarchy and non-egalitarian power dynamics, which in turn would imply that lesbians are immune to committing wrongful acts? I took the meaning to be pointing out how glaringly wrong that idea is, not seriously suggesting that lesbians can't rape people."

Depends on what kind of 'lesbians' you're referring to - lesbian aka separatist feminists are very well known for their 'man-hater' viewpoint (which usually ties in with the 'all sex is rape'/'all penetrative sex is rape' thing), but they also very commonly reject *everything* male or masculine, to the point of perpetrating ridiculousness like 'womyn', because they can't stand the 'man' part of woman.

Myself, I'm a lesbian (as in: I do women not as in 'I reject all things male' - because as per the separatists, you *can* technically be a lesbian and not have what's considered to be lesbian sex ;p - confused, yet?) but I'm also a sex-positive feminist, so you won't see me pointing fingers at that invisible spectre of patriarchy. Do I think there's inequality? Absolutely. Do I think EVERYTHING is the fault of that boogeyman patriarchy and 'rape culture'? No.

Just thought I'd point that stuff out, so people can see there *is* a difference in the type of lesbian you're dealing with. [The More You Know theme plays]

@17 - Actually, no, rape isn't about 'maintaning patriarchy and power'. It's about someone - anyone, regardless of their sex - seizing power from another person by any means necessary in order to do to that person things that they would not otherwise consent to. And power can be as simple as having the capability and awareness to consent to whatever is presented to you.

Go back to reading your Dworkin, already.

I was a Prince fan back in the day, too... then I heard about him going after fansites and threatening to sue them if they didn't take down this or that. Not just that, but as another poster mentioned - Prince turned Jehovah's Witness some years ago, and he's made some really hideous comments more recently about admiring 'orderly' Muslim countries ("It's fun being in Islamic countries, to know there's only one religion. There's order. You wear a burqa. There's no choice,” he told British newspaper, The Guardian, “People are happy with that.”) and quoted as saying some very ignorant and homophobic things.

It's a shame - especially considering I (at least partially) learned how to be a freak by being a fan of his - to see him ultimately siding with the vanilla squares. Not to mention disappointing.

So yeah, by all means - listen to his older stuff and love it, if you can still do so when faced with what he's become in more recent years: an self-important, delusional (though still no less talented) gasbag. Back in the day, old!Prince would have laughed his ass off at somebody like new!Prince - and would have shaken his head and seen him for the sad, straining phony he is.
