People Who Embrace Violence Also Capable of Being Angry.
@13 Dominic, it's not on the website in blocked proposals because it was tabled. Here, would you like me to put it up there and then you can fix your article? Give me 5.
Here's what happened:
An occupier, Josh, presented two proposals at the Friday night General Assembly 12/23 that contradict each other:
The first was written to show those outside OS that we do not condone violence.
1) Proposal to clarify Occupy Seattle’s stance on violence
Whereas, this is a violent world, and
Whereas, justice must be achieved by any means necessary, and
Whereas, the US police force have firebombed Detroit panthers and imprisoned and murdered, and
Whereas, there are combat veterans and lethal people amongst you,
Affirmed, Occupy Seattle is violent and reserves the right to engage in violent tactics during direct actions. Furthermore, violence shall be defined as unprovokedphysical acts of aggression, threats to engage in such acts, and any communication that disparages a person or a group on the basis of some characteristic such as concepts of race, skin pigmentation, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or creed.
The second proposal was tabled. A common reason to do so was because there were still terms to work out, and more discussion to be had. The second proposal was as following:
2) Proposal to clarify Occupy Seattle’s stance against violence
Whereas, this is a violent world that Occupy Seattle works to alleviate and transform, and
Whereas, acts of violence cause more violence, and
Whereas, the uncertainly of Occupy Seattle’s stance on violence deters people from supporting us, and
Whereas, the corporate controlled establishment has the biggest guns and just passed the NDAA which codifies indefinite detention of citizens,
Affirmed, Occupy Seattle is nonviolent and shall engage in nonviolent tactics during direct actions. Furthermore, violence shall be defined as unprovoked physical acts of aggression, threats to engage in such acts, and any communication that disparages a person or a group on the basis of some characteristic such as concepts of race, skin pigmentation, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or creed. Additionally, Nonviolence shall be defined as actions that are not violent.

For starters, Dominic:
1) When have we had "many" members of the Occupy Seattle legal working group. And, when did they stop "attending meetings?" I just saw three members of our legal team at GA last night. Today, at 5pm, I'm going to a meeting with two members from legal and two pro-bono lawyers in contact with our legal team to help me and 15 other occupiers in a case related to Occupy Seattle.
2) What faith groups have stepped back? And when did they initially step forward?
3) You didn't interview people, Dominic, you plucked comments.
4) Last night, around 100 people attended General Assembly. That's one of the biggest numbers I've seen in awhile. Who are the "many people" who have left?
5) Concerning the person who brought the proposal declaring: "Occupy Seattle is violent and reserves the right to engage in violent tactics during direct actions." It wasn't because the person wanted to advocate violence. The proposer was trying to demonstrate that Occupy Seattle is not violent! Cause guess what? We voted that down, too!
