Mar 11, 2013 1971 commented on Seattle-Hating State Senate Passes Anti-Sick Leave Bill.
Have this vision of Rodney Tom sitting in his waterfront Medina home that his wife's family money bought, dreaming of crushing the liberal spirit in the city across the lake. Kind of a sick Gatsby.
Mar 7, 2013 1971 commented on Mercer Island to Distribute iPads to All High Schoolers.
Ironic. Do remember when Mercer Island tech levy was in danger because of the district's reliance (then) on Apple in a community of Microsoft techies.
Jan 29, 2013 1971 commented on If Charter Schools Were Really About Flexibility in the Classroom, Charter School Advocates Would Back Garfield MAP Test Rebels.
And if Tom, Litzow and their buddies really cared about holding charter schools to high standards, they would have included charters in their dumb bill about giving schools letter grades. They don't give a rip about education, they just want to get rid of teachers unions!

This is one Arne Duncan proposal that makes total sense!
Dec 26, 2012 1971 commented on What Do Readers Really Want from Their Newspapers?.
I'm quite smug that I hadn't most (any?) of those most read stories!
Dec 10, 2012 1971 commented on Two Conservative Dems Defy Voters, Cross Over to Give Republicans Control of the State Senate.
Ro_ney Tom gives me the creeps! Litzow is icky, too. Pity upon those dependent on state government with those two in leadership! Michigan & Wisconsin, here we come!
Nov 15, 2012 1971 commented on You Can't Be Senate Majority Leader If You're Not a Senator.
Remember his district first elected him as a R, then he flipped to a D and now he is other than arrogant and a royal pain?
Nov 13, 2012 1971 commented on Hey, Senator Tom... Don't Let the Caucus Door Hit You on the Way Out!.
Good on you, Ed Murray. About time an adult took over in the Senate. Rodney Tom doesn't care about making our schools better, he just buys into the standard teacher bashing that's been in vogue. And he pouts when he doesn't get his way.
Nov 10, 2012 1971 commented on Why McKenna Conceded, and Other Gleanings from Yesterday's Ballot Dump [Update: Drew Concedes SOS Race].
Kathleen Drew would have been a great Secretary of State. Too bad. We lost a good one there!
Nov 10, 2012 1971 commented on What Is It That the Seattle Times Doesn't Understand About the Word "Swap"?.
Of course the Times wants us to believe there is money in this shell game. The Blethems are scared to death their tax breaks might go away if the state gets serious about living up to the McCleary decision!
