Your headline and conclusion are wrong. He said he has no apologies for going after the leakers, not reporters. He was careful to make a distinction you missed. He in fact yesterday asked for reintroduction of a federal shield law to protect reporters from just the sort of invasive inquiry his Justice Dept. made. Sen. Schumer will introduce it shortly.
May 6 menace2society commented on Democrats Are Racists, Too.
Thanks for being the nebbish nanny of petty political correctness Paul. "Nope! [It's] insincere bullshit...racist...shameful."

But how...?

Calling it a "racist thing" does not make it so; actually, the fact you didn't even try to define or explain what was racist about it likely mean it wasn't.

Don't fret. You still get your bi-partisan Brownie points.

Right, population is 50,000, metro area 90,000; it's the county seat and home to Idaho State University. Likeable town, actually.

You didn't pay Sherman for this did you? He paid you, right?

Ultimately, your story is a failure. You can tell that from the remarks above. If you had taken the time to report it accurately - even from a point of view, rather than outright opinion - you might have sold your idea. The mistake was in not winnowing things down, quoting from the emails and coming to conclusions. Instead you lazily posted the complete emails and didn't make your point clear, leaving you open to justified criticism and allowing readers to wander away in discussions about use of the email and whether the story was done correctly. The news editor needs a news editor.

Damn, a nearly excellent report, clear and cogent and informative. And then at the end these lines....

"What the fuck is US District Judge James Robart to think?... this is clearly a slow-motion shit show..."

Just had to throw your feces and tell us what to think. I was sitting next to a reporter who suddenly turned into just another asshole at the bar.
Mar 5 menace2society commented on Apparently, the Air Force Grants "Get Out of Jail Free" Cards for Rape in the Military.
Any other exclamations? "Mind-boggling...insane...incredibility unusual..." and the old crutch-when-you-can't-write "shit."

Now that we know your position on an issue in which all you know about it is what you've read from someone else's reporting, how about acting the reporter you might claim to be and tell us why - exactly, precisely - the conviction was erased. Really, even a hint, could you trouble yourself to give us a hint?

Was it possible this was a clearly wrongful conviction, say, and was made right? Jesus, if you're going to grab something off the net and throw it up there in a tirade, lazy as that is, at least try to give more than half the story.
Feb 14 menace2society commented on Seattle Weekly Lays Off Staff.
Judging by Sound's history, it seems likely they're going to strip it to the bone and run it as an advertising vehicle, like the company's other publications. That means cutting the high-salaried types too, like Nina Shaprio, just as SW earlier did to Rick Anderson - obviously, it wasn't his writing, since he's still writing for them as a freelancer, and breaking stories. You have to figure Mike Seely and the publisher, despite what they say, were given walking papers, too, or likely refused to take pay cuts. That's what Sound is all about - slicing and dicing its way towards unsound journalism.

what's glaringly missing is the true identity of the owners behind the corporation. Are they rich folk who might be embarrassed if identified with, say, photos of their homes, or reports on their stature in the community, etc. Could be a juicy story.
Jan 30 menace2society commented on The Problem with Polynormativity.
"Andrea has lots of other insights into the way polyamorous relationships are being packaged and presented for the mainstream."

Ah yes, another trailblazing sex writer - doing what's already been done, but passing it off as new with a psychobabble name.

These "polys" are "swingers," kiddies. You can look it up. And whatever you call them, divorce attorneys love 'em.
