What Are You Going to Do the Next Time You See Someone Being Harassed on the Street?.
I've only been a daily Metro rider for about six months and have yet to witness any harassment. Like 35 said, maybe that's partly due to my presence - I'm a relatively tall guy and I make a point to keep the phone in my pocket and pay attention to the situation around me (mostly because I stare at a screen all day). As 76 suggested, maybe that's a good first step - just being obviously engaged in the situation may deter potential dicks. That said, if I did see something, I'd make sure the harasser knew he was being watched and let the victim work it out on her/his own until I judged that they wanted help.

On Twitter, Game of Thrones Fans Half-Assedly Plot Boycott.
I haven't yet watched the series, but I read the books and admit that I had a few moments (including after the red wedding) when I'd slam the book down and say "Fuck it! I'm done!" Truly intending to ditch the story forever - only to pick it up again the next day. I'd guess it's the same with viewers, though the common experience makes for some juicy Twitter tantrums in the meantime.

@13, I and many other Elks are proud atheists. We also contribute quite a lot to local charities with money and action and have thoughtful debates about community and religion without stooping to name-calling and insults. It's sunny outside. Have a nice day.

I really wanted to like Nook. I live a short walk away and they were very friendly (and I loved the owl logo), but for a biscuit-themed place, the biscuits were too dense for my taste.
The Ballard Elks Lodge (out toward Golden Gardens) nabbed the Viking's shuffleboard table for their lounge. It's members-only, but the view of the sound is fantastic, the drinks are cheap, we've been gaining hordes of younger members - and we love love love new members!

There Are No Atheists In Foxholes.
I guess I'll never understand the knee-jerk need to effusively thank your lord for sparing you from the horrible storm that he himself wrought upon your community. Good on her for a gracious response.

My Ken Hutcherson Google Alert Never Fails to Pay Off....
In fairness, Ken seems to have let a bit of his own personal remorse shine through:
"I just wish I would have known what it was that made me less than human so I could have tried to fix it. Sadly, it was my fault for not working harder on this."
