When Life with Archie is leaps and bounds ahead of your comics in social progress, I'd say you have a serious problem.

He'll be able to pull it off for a while, but the celibate life is a hopeless life. I was a self-loathing, churchy closet-case and remained celibate until I was 27. At some point you have a to make a choice to either be yourself and start actually living or get out. You can't go on missing out on so much of life indefinitely. Especially in the mid-twenties when all your friend start to get married, and your future is a lonely, dark tunnel with no light at the end.

This is actually a different sort of Green Lantern (Alan Scott) unrelated to the ones most people are familiar with. I believe his powers are magical rather than willpower-related. Also, this version exists in a different universe that has no bearing on the regular DC comics characters, so it's sort of a joke that DC tried to make a big deal about it being so progressive of them. The old character already had a gay son (now erased) before the reboot.
