Mar 16 Dr. Hilarius commented on What Happened Yesterday at the Central District's Umoja Peace Center?.
Tahir-Garrett has been grandstanding loudmouth for decades. He was convicted of assault back in 1989 after grabbing a UW police officer's handgun (which was holstered) at a demonstration. There was the unprovoked attack on Mayor Schell in 2001. Having seen him at demonstrations my own view is that he's bi-polar and often manic but gets a pass from some because of his political views. Now he's claiming persecution for not being allowed to live on someone else's property. As for stringing an eviction out for 8 months, as claimed by another poster, good luck finding any willing to rent to him.
Feb 7 Dr. Hilarius commented on Republican Dave Reichert and Democrat Pramila Jayapal Cosponsor Legislation to Protect Dreamers.
This is no different from his environmental votes, an occasional sop to the moderates in his district. This bill has little chance of passage so he can support it with other Republicans knowing it's a no-cost way of staying in office.
Nov 14, 2014 Dr. Hilarius commented on Seattle Photographer Under Fire for Getting Kinky in a Military Cemetery.
The photo is dull and pedestrian. Even with a naked woman. Not everyone with a camera is a photographer.
Feb 5, 2013 Dr. Hilarius commented on An Interview with Art History Itself: The Painter, Champion, and Designer Rolon Bert Garner.
Thank you for the interview. I haven't seen Rolon since he moved to Whidbey. People like Rolan made Seattle into a fun, vibrant place. It's good that his memories are being recorded, no matter how fragmentary. Seattle's art and political scenes were populated by wonderful people who connected with each other in unexpected ways. So much of that history is being lost to age and death.
Jul 26, 2012 Dr. Hilarius commented on Endorsements for the August 7 Primary Election.
I like the Stranger and generally agree with it's analysis of candidates. But in regard to State Supreme Court position 9 you are way off. I know the Stranger hates Sanders. Yes, he's a hypocrite on issues of personal morality. So what. I strongly disagree with his view of gay marriage. Sanders was a singular voice on the court in favor of individual rights when in conflict with the state. He was sometimes a lonely voice against police misconduct and prosecutorial overreach. OK, you don't like him. But to reject Sheryl Gordon McCloud on the basis of a past contribution to Sanders is just plain fucking stupid. She has decades of experience fighting and winning cases before the Supreme Court almost always representing indigent defendants. You could not find a more progressive candidate for the position. Judge Hilyer is also a good, well-qualified candidate who would make a good justice.

While local concerns are legitimate, this is trivial. Find some real problems. No shortage.
