If Queen Cities and Charles Dreifus invested the money that they're paying to Bumpstead and Jay Kelly to the former KMCQ team -- none of this would have been needed. Without any resources for promotion or sales support - KMCQ had 4 consecutive months with a 2.7 share -- eclipsing the ratings of the Mountain 103.7; Click 98.9 and matching the End 107.7 Who knows how high KMCQ's ratings would have been if Queen Cities had supported this station?
By choosing the path to compete directly with KJR, and, to a lesser extent with KZOK - 104.5 has entered into a losing battle - because they can't compete against the talent, resources and money of Clear Channel and CBS, respectively. A small player in a big market can be successful if there is product differentiation and a connection with the customer. KMCQ had this and it is now lost Advantage: Clear Channel and CBS!
