Posting this both as an aging hardcore singer and as a person whose favourite punk band was Black Flag until a couple years ago...

OFF! is retirement home hardcore.

There are 10 better hardcore bands in this state.

Hardcore is youth music.

@7 - Actually the Dolls headlined Day 1, and the Stooges headlined the final day (with Mudhoney opening!)

@ Emily - THANK YOU, will listen to White Zombie FOREVER. (Also wish more people knew about their early stuff, when they were playing with Sonic Youth in the mid 80s and weren't a metal band yet.)

@8 FTW

I started near where Dave describes standing, eventually ended up 2/3 into the crowd on the Shields side. Sounded a lot better but still... zero times a billion is still zero. Worst sounding venue in town. Also seems worth noting that the "sports bar" vibe and lights beaming from the entire left side of the venue are awful for the kinds of shows I see there: MBV, Cat Power, Nick Cave... really only felt right for Slayer.

Wow look at all those great artists, stuck playing at the worst place in town. We should be ashamed enough to tear that place down ourselves.

And now I don't want to go see GY!BE there. I've never seen them. :(

I know it's been said before by smarter and funnier people but watching this band live really is like watching an Urban Outfitters version of a "metal" band.
