Health at Every Size.
@35" 'cuz if you go to the gym, eat the right things and walk everywhere, there is 0% chance that you'll be heavy in any sense. "
Yeah --- pretty much true, tho nothing sure except death and taxes. If after a year, people who are going to the gym for 5-6 hours of excercise a week, good food, and walking are still obese, then they are one of the tiny number of people with some unusual health issue.
But you won't know if you are one of those anomolies unless you do the whole exercise and eating routine...

@33 Ha! La divina was 35-22-35 and weighed around 120 pounds at 66 inches tall. Not obese then or now.
Wonderfully curvy and like jello on springs.....

@23 -- You apparently are illustrating the study's conclusion? Do you not know what thin looks like?
Those women are indeed fat, obese, chubby-wubby, call it what you will.
I don't know anything about their moral rectitude however.

WTF?.
@18 & 20--- you do know Loveschild isn't a real person, right? No conservative Christian Republican hack is going to hang out here constantly.
"She" is making comments over on another thread about the glory of Levi Johnston's ass. I don't see any comments from other conservatives about that. Hmmmmmm......

@6 --....Three minimum-wage jobs does not leave someone in poverty. And this generation is the first to ever have children at school while their parents work?? Stupid use of hyperbole.
Being poor could also mean it's more important than ever to use your limited resources more wisely.

Life and Death in a Recliner in South Carolina.
@77 -- A mish mash of opinion, personal anecdote and scolding. Glad you're thinner now and hope you stay that way. It's too hard to sort out all your garble in your empassioned note.
To be over 300 pounds takes some major effort in order to keep supplying the body calories enough to turn to fat. The body doesn't spontaneously create fat, and the body will indeed lose weight if food stops coming --- it's called starvation and is well documented in countless ways.
Poorly designed weight reduction diets do not take into account a variety of needs and the balance necessary to maintain health.
Exercise is necessary in many ways.
But to assert as many have here that reducing food intake won't result in weight loss is just plain stupid.
The guy's wife has to be more mentally imparied than he was to keep bringing him enormous amounts of food, clean his body as best she could, smell his rotting flesh all day and watch him die in front of her without calling for help.
PS -- I am a former fattie, if it matters to you.

Turkey Consumption May Prevent Shoppers Trampling Each Other in Consumerist Frenzy.
Oh ugh...I just hate it when the media reports on research studies. They do such a shitty job of it. And Bethany you're right in there --- but thanks for including your toss-away line about other factors.
There's a comparable about of tryptophan in turkey meat as in other meat. It's more likely the insulin from all the excess carbs consumed sets people off for a nap.
And the thought that consumers would regulate their eating so as to influence their behavior is more than ludicrous. "Yes, I decided to eat much less on the day before I go shopping so I will push less on fellow shoppers and make fewer impulsive buys."
