Caught one of his Chicago shows last week; he sounded solid, and his band was strong. It wasn't transcendent, and the band was indeed a modern-day, road-tested version of funky (meaning heavier than the recordings), but all in all, considering the mitigating factors, I don't think we could expect a better show out of an-almost-60 year old man who invented most of this music nearly 40 years ago.

Besides the annoying aspects of a person with their hand in the air in front of me blocking the view, I question the usefulness/quality of what they are creating. Photographers with actual skills and gear are one thing. What in the fuck are you making with your phone that anyone, including you, will ever want to look at again?

This is unsurprising, but still shitty. The sole bright side is that their antiquated bigotry will be enough of a liability that they will keep losing elections, at least on the federal level, which will prevent other terrible Republican ideas from actually occurring.
