Mountain Climbers Should Pay for Their Fuck Ups.
The instruction to go to the Newsweek article and then return to OregonLive website to talk about it suggests that nobody at OregonLive could read the article and then write an original piece based on the same premise and concept, and add a comments section.
That is the sound of the last editor making a death rattle before a publication goes under.

Reading Today: Bullshit.
People can't keep secrets so there is no such thing as a conspiracy, except for conspiracies that have already been discovered; but they were discovered because people can't keep secrets. Ergo, no conspiracy could be engineered by, say, the members of the Project for a New American Century once they became Vice President, Secretary of Defense, etc.
Simply could not happen. Large groups of people cannot keep secrets, ergo, there is no such thing as covert operations. Never happens. Nothing to look at here folks. Believe the story that you've been told by those who benefitted most from the failure to prevent the attacks, and who had motive and opportunity to assure that nothing prevented the attacks.
Why do you hate America, anyway.

Reading Today: Bullshit.
Dan Savage doesn't know shit about when to go to war and Paul Constant doesn't know shit about jack.
The problem with the 9/11 Truth movement is that it attracted a whole bunch of loose nuts, got co-opted by the Larouchbags, failed to establish message discipline, and so on.
The problem with the 9/11 Truth movement is NOT that buildings tend to spontaneously implode into their footprints when they catch fire, or that smothering a fire intensifies the heat.
The real big problem of factual truth is that journalists who care about their professional reputations won't go near it. That is why Bush could lie and the press would print it.
Keep your nose in the comic books, Paul. Science is not your thing, and neither is history, or politics.

Competent?.
The problems at the intersection of the mental health system and the legal system are more serious than just these cases, but these two cases shine a light on major failures.
Many crimes could be prevented if we had an effective system of treating and preventing mental illness. We do not.
We deal with crime only after the fact. Mental health could often be treated before crimes are committed, but it is not dealt with as a budget priority. And involuntary treatment is improperly treated as a law enforcement matter, with the focus on the rights of people who are not competent to determine their own well being; until after a crime is committed.
If the Surgeon General would take up mental health as a significant factor in the prevention and treatment of serious health issues with major social impacts, we could cut the suicide rate, the problems associated with substance abuse, the crime rate including major violent crimes, and also the productivity of non-violent workers in the economy.

Savage Love Letter of the Day.
Straight, normal, teenage girls as well as budding lesbians have been making out with other teenage girls at sleepovers since time began. Literally. Scientists just found fossilized teenage neanderthal girls in sapphic embrace surrounded by neolithic pizza boxes and wrapped in bear-skin snuggies.
MOM needs to stop snooping and leave the kids alone.
