The Alaskan Stereotype.
"aside from a seething anti-native sentiment, people seem focused on aspects other than race when stereotyping others."
I don't mean to nitpick, but this line is a contradiction. Why does "seething anti-native sentiment" not count as racism?

Swine Flu Vaccine Available to All British Columbians.
@9 -- awesome!
@3 -- in Canada, if you want it, you get it.
From Public Health:
Q3. How did the government decide on the amount of vaccine to order?
While we would aim to vaccinate 100 per cent of the population, from observing seasonal flu shot campaigns, we know that even in provinces with free universal access vaccination programs, usually less than 50 per cent of the population will choose to be immunized.
Ordering 50.4 million doses of pandemic vaccine amounts to ordering 50 per cent more than we would expect to use for a normal seasonal vaccination campaign.
The Government of Canada is confident that 50.4 million vaccine doses will be sufficient to meet the needs of every Canadian likely to need and want protection.

Cat-Scratch Fever.
Please note: if you are making the "de-clawing cats is inhumane" argument, and you eat meat bought at a supermarket, that clanging you hear is the sound of your cognitive dissonance.

You Look Good Enough to Eat.
Julie in Eugene, I agree with you completely. Fnarf, you can still have your T-bone, but for the vast quantities of frozen and canned meat consumed in America, nobody would even know the difference.
I find it odd that so many are disgusted by this, but are seemingly okay with the present model of factory farms, which are thoroughly disgusting and morally reprehensible.

Paul Allen Diagnosed with Cancer.
Yeah, @13, you're probably right about that. 5280 is rude, but he redeems himself regularly enough that I can't take it too seriously. I get the feeling that I probably wouldn't mind him too much in person. But RC I would not like. He has no redemptive qualities at all.
Anyway. I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with cancer. Hope to see your yacht in the harbour this summer, Paul.
There is one thing worse than having a loved one "in recovery". It's having a loved one who's dead.
