I wonder what the Vatican task-force assigned to removing this scourge from the Church is actually doing about it. Sounds like not much. Issuing edicts that say, "Stop screwing kids," probably. Or contemplating giving altar boys pants instead of dresses.

It has to be a drag on the holy bottom line. Maybe that's why they chose such a frugal pope.

Would an online degree look the same on a resume? I wonder whether resumes that said "UW (online)" would get passed over in favor of the real thing.

So much socializing occurs in college. These online kids would probably show up to the office and behave like home-schooled weirdos.

Does anyone know a vet who makes house calls? My cat is a complete wreck in the car: wets/shits herself and wails as loud as a car horn. Thus she's late on her exam/shots.

I'm not price sensitive on the house-call thing. Anything will seem like a bargain by comparison.

The paywall on the NYTimes crossword puzzles is completely nonporous, as you have to sign in so they can check your account before giving you access. So they have the technology in house, but decided not to implement it site-wide.

It seems like making the paywall semi-porous is a better business model, because they get paid by people who don't know how or don't bother to get around it, and those who game the system boost their readership numbers, so they can justify charging more for ads.

That quote refers to Benedict the Quitter's philosophy that Catholics, by fretting over how backward the Church appears to others, are a risk to the Church itself.
