Lunchtime Quickie.
@2 seriously, those wee little velcro straps aren't going to hold up to anything more than "gentle lovemaking".

Last Night the Hold Steady and I Starred in a Liquor Commercial.
this show was a thousand times better than that horrible matt and kim for bacardi show. that one nearly crushed my soul.
i wonder where we'll get to see this most flattering picture of our bewildered selves?
i love love love the hold steady but i'm afraid this may be the last time i see them. they'll never play a venue as small as the croc again, and when the setlist is 80% lifted from the two latest (and imho - inferior) albums, i just don't know if i can take it. maybe in 8 years when they jump on the "tour the country playing an album front to back" wagon with the entirety of separation sunday, i'll be ready to welcome them back. love you craig finn, but i just can't watch.

How it Feels to Be On Again: Sunny Day Real Estate @ the Paramount.
Fantastic review, Eric, I completely agree. I get squicked out by born-agains from my atheist stance, and was wary of seeing these guys, but the whole show really did transcend any sort of agendas or grudges anyone may have had. The guys were just so happy and gracious and generous with this show. I felt like we really got the best they were capable of and I am so so thankful to have been there to witness it.
I never counted myself as a big fan, I was mostly there to see Jealous Sound, but I was completely won over by SDRE and the energy they brought. It also helps that they closed the night out with my favorite of their tracks.
