The Official Word on the War Room: Shutting Its Doors, Future Uncertain.
Mad Rad and Champagne Champagne are mentioned because of their relevance to the closure: they are the most recent bands to play the room. And, their introduction from Mike McGinn is the first time a political candidate has done such a thing at the War Room.
God. Go ahead and hate Mad Rad but, really, does every comment thread have to turn into bitchfest about them?

Mike McGinn and Mad Rad @ the War Room.
McGinn's stop at the War Room on Friday was part of his tour around Capitol Hill that night. He popped in to a number of spots, including Neumo's and Havana, to check things out and press some flesh.
With many current issues pertaining to nightlife, and a concerted effort by those businesses to increase local political awareness, it was good to see a candidate out in the trenches, and experiencing it all first hand.
Like it or not, nightlife makes up a significant segment of our city's economic impact. At least McGinn gives a damn, and understands that business isn't just about big money development.

Tonight: The Nightlife Candidates.
Tonight was a great example of folks doing what they can to get the job done. Croc was packed, folks were having a great time, and the entertainment was solid.
Plus, Krist Novoselic kicking it with Mad Rad and Champagne Champagne, while PUSA posts up aftershow? Talking politics AND music? Sorry, haters, but that warms my heart.
Bottom line: these are candidates that can and will make a difference not just for nightlife, but for our region as a whole. If we can help them get elected, I call that a win.

The Mind of Kalebu.
Eli, once again you have moved me to tears with this tragic story. Thank you for such dedicated reporting. My heart breaks for those close to this horrible crime and you've managed to tell the story in a truly human and compelling manner.

Mike McGinn - Bigger than Mad Rad?.
1. Eric looks nothing like a lizard, seriously. This insult is about as clever as calling someone a hipster.
2. It always makes me happy to see artists get involved with politics, especially on a local level.
3. McGinn is the truth, and will do a great job for our city. Perhaps he can sweet talk Mad Rad into playing his victory party? Now THAT would be something to see.
