Well, yeah, you can do something when you put $1T/yr onto the credit card. It's all good fun until the bill comes due. At that point, we can either increase taxes and cut spending, default, or print like mad. I am going to bet on "print like mad". I think that decision will be made in about fifteen years.

@28... Ah -- corrupt it now, while the corrupting is cheap? Clever.

Just like with the protest that covered the original attack, I wonder how much of this protest was spontaneous and how much was staged. What a... convenient thing to have happen as the Senate debates cutting off foreign aid.

Nope, no buyer's remorse here. We just have to remove more of the Prohibition remnants and reduce liquor taxes.

@72 -- I agree that the first Costco initiative was far better. But it got derailed by the beer distributors and by "OMG they might sell booze at 7-11" concerns. In 2 years I hope we can get tweaks through the legislature to iron out inequities and lower the booze taxes.

OK, so the next step is to kill the special liquor tax.

@11, there is no gun show loophole. No rules are different at a gun show than anywhere else. If you buy a gun from a dealer (someone with a Federal Firearms License) then you have to fill out paperwork and deal with any applicable checks. If you buy a gun from an individual then that doesn't apply -- at a gun show or at a Starbucks.

Was the murderer under a legal prohibition that would prevent him from buying a gun? How did he obtain his pistol? Don't you think you should find out the answers to those questions first?

Obama didn't crank the car up to 110 MPH. He merely took it from there to 120. It's still a "reckless spending spree".
