I fly fairly frequently and have noticed a definite increase in the number of female pilots I've had. Probably as high as 40% over the past year or so. I'm always glad to hear a female pilot's voice over the intercom.

Heterosexuality is thrust into gay people's faces dozens of times each and every day. You don't see us taking our ball and going home. What a hypocritical loser.

"they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do."

Apparently, this guy's parents "didn't have nothing for their kids to do" either. Because they should have sent him to school to learn how to speak English properly.

It's easy to pick out a review written by someone with an axe to grind. However, I would love it if Amazon could find some way to control the misguided ones that give a book 1 star or 2 stars on the basis of criteria that have nothing to do with the merit of the book itself. Like missed deliveries, or technical issues with a Kindle, or books arriving damaged, or stuff like that. Those belong in a customer service venue, not the book review section.

What great advice. I'm buying my copy of Rapture Practice right now.

I live in SF, where nearly 20 pedestrians get killed each year by cars. The most recent one happened just 3 blocks from my apartment, right before Christmas last year, and seeing his tarp-covered body lying in the middle of the intersection was very sobering. I walk everywhere. But I am constantly amazed at the number of people who jaywalk by stepping out into the street and expecting cars to stop for them. And many, many pedestrians regularly cross when it says Do Not Walk. Yes, pedestrians have the right of way. But if they aren't using a crosswalk, or they don't have a green light, or they don't even look before they start to cross, then no law-abiding driver should be held responsible for accidentally hitting them. Pedestrians have an obligation to cross responsibly. Unfortunately, a very high number of them don't.

I guess I'll be the first person to comment on the actual movie. It was good.

I fell into the Grisham trap this holiday with The Rackateer. I hoped for something a little different than his previous 6,000 books and did not get it. I guess a periodic check-in with an old semi-standby isn't a horrible thing; it was mildly diverting.
