Read To Me Tuesday.
Very bizarre -- I was just thinking about this book yesterday, and wondering where I could find it! One of my high school teachers gave me this book (which was written by a relative of his), and I still remember it fondly, many, many, many years later . . .

The 800-Pound Gorilla That Wants to Make a Mayor.
It has been nearly two weeks since the primary, and we still don't know anything more than we did then about the stealth candidates McGinn and Mallahan or what either would do as Mayor. This grows more and more tiresome to see folks who deliberately keep their message narrow vague rewarded with ballot box victory -- Susan Hutchison, anyone?
And why does anyone listen to Cathy Allen anymore? Is she really relevant -- who was the last candidate she got elected to anything? She collects more money for doing nothing than any political consultant since Ralph Reed.

Is Ed Murray Thinking About Jumping Into Mayoral Race?.
Quixotic? Probably. Provocative? Certainly. It would definitely make the race more interesting -- I am sincerely uninpressed with our current amateur / dilettante choices, and am already tired of hearing about the tunnel (what is McGinn actually FOR?) and being on the receiving end of Mallahan's corporate double-speak (synergy? ideation? really?!?!)

"Shame of You" Says It All.
Wow. Her t-shirt says something about Israel, but I can't make it out. If you watch one of the other videos, she smugly talks about how health care isn't a right, and how her husband has three jobs but no health care coverage, and how the system needs to be reformed because costs are too high. Oh yeah, and how she adheres to "Christian values", which apparently include mocking folks of other faiths for their $8000 ER bills. It makes me hope that there is an Old Testament smiting God (who was pretty fond of the Jews, on occasion, I think) with something malignant aimed in her direction.

Children's Hospital May Have to Leave Seattle.
Rich douchebags putting their own NIMBY personal and financial interests ahead of that of their community and the well-being of vulnerable populations?!?!?!?!? I'm shocked, shocked that this is happening in Seattle!

Greed: The Best Reason to Oppose the Bag Fee.
I love the idea that the millions that the douchebags at the American Chemistry Council are throwing into this race to defeat the bag tax may actually result in the long-run in a total ban on their product. I love the smell of irony in the morning . . .

Anti-Gay Referendum Backers Sue State to Block Release of Petition Signers' Names.
Why might they be ashamed to have their beliefs known to the general public? Gutless wonders -- willing to pull the trigger in the dark to kill other people's civil rights, but not willing to literally stand up and be counted for their beliefs. Aren't they supposed to be proud of their commitment to their Christian values?
It reminds me a bit of one of the old Sunday School lessons I was taught -- John 13:38: "Jesus answered him, 'Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.'" Who, me? No, no I didn't sign that thing!
