RIP, DFA Drummer Supreme Jerry Fuchs.
I'm glad I took a chance and got out and saw that Maserati show now. He did some of the most incredible stuff on his kick drum. I had never heard 'em before and was super impressed.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Mike McGinn and Mad Rad @ the War Room.
@dan10things As much as I agree with you about it being a bit of a "testing the PR waters" move to be in the thick of the Capitol Hill Coke Den (TM), I honestly can't say that him showing up there is going to hurt his chances with anyone outside of that ridiculous, self-aggrandizing scene.
I don't hate Mad Rad. I'm sure they're nice dudes whose mothers all love them very much. Musically, it's been done a billion times (and a billion times better). White kids rapping about sex and drugs? Novel. They're not awful, but not worthy of the hype that folks give 'em by any means. They serve a purpose (epicentre of "the Capitol Hill white hipster hop scene", bringing all the emotional weight and posturing of pro wrestling along with them), and serve as the soundtrack to a moment for a lot of people (most of whom are too busy Twittering and jabbering on about their fixies to look up and notice).
More than anything, it's that whole scene of "If the apocalypse happens, I'll be looting Urban and Am. Apparel. Text me!" dayglo scenester kids with more money than common sense. If Mad Rad wants to keep fighting for that audience's loyalty? More power to 'em. Let's all meet back on this thread in 3 years and see who is still waiting tables.

The Most Annoying Part of Where the Wild Things Are?.
Couldn't agree more. Not a Karen O fan to begin with, but I can think of a billion people who would've made a timeless score/soundtrack for the film, rather than some shitty art-school/indie one that absolutely dates the film. Seriously, horrible decision-making on their part.
I thought the film itself had some really underwhelming (and unexpectedly overwhelming) moments. I'd like to see it again and not be analyzing it technically...just sit and enjoy it for what it is without thinking about how they did it.

Another Sunny Day.
That show @ Hell's Kitchen was pretty fantastic. Never thought I would see "Red Elephant" live but then it happened. Awesome.

Seattle Weekly Loses Music Editor.
Anyone know anything more to the story other than he's not there anymore? I'm assuming he was let go? Have to say this is a big loss for Seattle Weekly and the Seattle music community in general.
Also, I blame Mad Rad.
