I think Dec. 9 should be declared "Marriage Day" in Washington state, open to everyone -- gay, straight, married, engaged, thinking about it, know somebody, etc., to celebrate. We could have flowers. We could eat cake. Also, it's a good time to start planning for a spring or summer wedding or for screwing up the courage to propose on Valentine's Day.
