Not defending the Advocate's metrics (roller derby pish posh, etc.), but have a feeling that most must have missed the "DIVIDED BY population within city limits" with a minimum pop. of 150,000 required.

14 is right right right. 20, not at all.

"Crammed with twins — lookalikes, mirrored images, doppelgängers — the story follows that of the “Swan Lake” ballet in broad, gradually warped strokes." -- MANOHLA DARGIS

Lots of Germany hatred on here. Why? They represent one of the few responsible economies in Europe and seem to be single-handedly keeping the entire Eurozone afloat. Not to mention that they're the ONLY country in the western world without a resurgent, mainstream rightwing party. Even the bleeding heart Dutch and Swedes are leaning further right of Germany. And the USA? Please.

And @25 -- valid argument. The number of vacationers a country has is directly related to its overall quality of life, state solvency and human development index. Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, the bankrupt Mediterranean states... all gleaming examples of prospering societies.
Nov 10, 2010 Judith commented on Required Reading: Andrew Sullivan On "The Big Lie".
Nancy Pelosi put it best today when she said, and I'm paraphrasing, that the jobless people who voted against Democrats better not be expecting the Republicans to actually help them... especially when it comes to renewing their unemployment benefits. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

If I had a twatter, I would Re-tweet 28.
Nov 10, 2010 Judith commented on No Style Seattle.
I think that the weather argument is bullshit. Seattle winters are nowhere near as terrible, wet or windy as the ones the big 'stylish' East Coast, Northeast Asian and Western European cities suffer through.

Seattle has a generally different aesthetic, a much more casual professional scene, and lots and lots of steep hills. Try walking up Cherry in Prada slacks without getting a sweaty crotch, or down QA in Choo boots without injuring yourself. It's idiotic, and I pity the few who care enough to try...

This is a reason I love Seattle -- it's not a glamorous, uppity metropole. It's a pretty city filled with smart, nice people and lots of good food.
Nov 9, 2010 Judith commented on Don't Do It, Alec Baldwin!.
Why is he embarrassing? Alec strikes me as a really smart guy, very well-informed, and very possibly a viable candidate for national office. Susan Sarandon's ex would've been embarrassing. Alec, not so much. That said, if he left 30 Rock, I would die.
Nov 9, 2010 Judith commented on Anderson Cooper on the Firing of Andrew Shirvell.
It's been clear from day one that Anderson knew exactly what Shirvell's issue was -- an emotionally stunted, terrified, closeted gay man unknowingly in love with an attractive, high-profile college student.
Nov 9, 2010 Judith commented on Dear GLAAD: Leave Susan Sarandon ALOOOOOONE!.
Oh dear. Is GLAAD becoming to gay rights what PETA is to animal rights? I certainly hope not.
Nov 5, 2010 Judith commented on Keith Olbermann Suspended for Making Political Beliefs Clear.
Surely violating this policy warrants something... but indefinite suspension is a tad much. I get the sense that there was some irritation marination over at MSNBC between Griffin and Olbermann and he's using this as a front to really stick it to Mr. Keith.

Sullivan had some interesting undisclosed stats on FOX News contributions....
