@17

And when you can show 70% of African Americans support denying gays the right to marry...

Who on earth thinks Justin Timberlake is hotter than Ryan Reynolds? They have seen him shirtless, right?

Personally, I would love to see a major animation company (Pixar!) do a Green Lantern movie. A live action just seems so limited, unless the film has a 200 million dollar budget. Thor might work since his major powers a super-strength and the hammer. Ok, nerd off...

That McNair headline is pretty tasteless

Your comment is attached to a story about a Gay fundraiser that reportedly raised a million dollars. Also, David Geffen ain't going anywhere. He liked power and access to much.

That is the crux of my personal complaint against Avarosis. I think he is purposely disingenuous, and just keeps saying; "I'm a lawyer! I know things!" and people eat it up (case in point; the DOMA brief. How many people actually read it start to finish, then commented?). Maybe he's concluded that getting the GLBT community angry enough is what it will take to change policy, and using straight (pun intended) facts just won't do it.

Wait, this was the protest that was to be shut down, right? The one where tha gay atm was to be closed?

Regardless of the local, the date and time, the weather (any other excuses?), if the Gay community is really organized about this, there should have been far more people. Bitching on the internet doesn't work folks.

Oh come on...Most were not in a go slow mode. If it wasn't the doma brief, it was something else, always has been. Most in the gay community would only be in a go slow mode if Hillary were President. No one else gets a pass. sorry.
Jun 17 hal commented on What Everyone Else Is Saying.
Avarosis needs to quit saying he talked with so and so, and THEY say this isn't true. Prove it, dammit. Links, studies, the law itself that would allow, say, full benefits. Don't just quote someone from the Clinton admin who apparently wasn't horrified enough back then to do anything.
Jun 16 hal commented on Obama: Some Federal Employees Are More Equal Than Others.
""Guess what? It's not an executive order, it's just a "presidential memorandum," which means this directive expires when Obama leaves office"

Is that actually true? I keep reading they don't expire and are like executive orders, but considered "less prestigious?"

Truman integrated the military three years into his term, not six months, and it was a big deal. The Armed forces did not immediately integrate either, but were pushed by the Korean war. Non-combat areas were still segregated. Moreover, segregation still existed in the outside world and there was still discrimination IN the military after Truman's order. Point being, an executive order for DADT is not a slam dunk that everyone portrays it as, and this rosy picture of post interegration love and flowers is exaggerated.
