Dutch Artist Turns Dead Cat into Remote-Controlled Helicopter.
I know this is the Stranger and part of their schtick is to push the boundaries of good taste in order or seem hip or "edgy". But this is neither. This is just gross and fucking lame. We'll assume this has nothing to do with animal cruelty and say this was some old animal that died of natural causes. It's still disgusting. Go hang out with Ted Nuget if this is your kind of thing.

Bigot Florist Files Countersuit.
My religion and the Bible tells me that white folk and n****rs shouldn't get married so I'm going to refuse to serve *those* kind of couples. Isn't that basically their argument?

Regarding the Singles House.
I watched Singles for the first time a few weeks ago. After living here 10 years I thought I should check it out. What a terrible movie. If they could just keep the scenes where there are music and edit out all of the rest of the dialogue, it'd be a great movie. All the characters in that movie made me want to hit them with a Nerf bat. The only satisfying climax to the movie would have been if they all were killed in a plane crash or something. Was Seattle really that vapid in 1992?

Seattle Times Tries Charging Its Reporters to Access Their Own Website.
What does he mean they will 'pay for it'? Pay for what, that something they used to give out for free that advertisers paid for? Which reminds me then, so if you subscribe to their paywall, does that mean it's completely ad free? Or does it mean two groups (consumer and advertisers) are paying for a service twice? What a joke about them offering to let employees opt out. Yeah you want to make that round of layoffs or ever get promoted? Pay up! What a horrible place to work. After their paywall went up I just switched to local TV news web sites. I don't miss it.

Watch SPD Liberally Apply Pepper Spray to Protester Faces.
Maybe SPD's reputation is why they don't do otherwise, to confront cops who are bullies and use excessive force?
I'm not a cop lover or cop hater, I try to call shots as I see them. I've defended some cops who used justifiable force and condemn the ones who use excessive force. Pepper spray should only ever be used to thwart assaults or attacks, never to disperse a crowd, not even a non-violent but raucous crowd.

Ah Monday morning QB peanut gallery is in full force. So here's the deal, whatever your personal opinion of Finkenbinder, it is irrelevant. Did he touch the cops or assault them? If the answer is no, then they had no right to spray him. The guy who sprays him isn't even within punching range. Just because someone is yelling at your or not moving fast enough doesn't justify that level of force. Police are professionals paid and trained not to let their emotions get the best of them. If you can't deal with people yelling at you or flipping you the bird, you shouldn't be a cop. Yelling is not sufficient provocation for pepper spraying. If that's the case I should be able to pepper spray anyone who yells at me on the street. Taking swings at the cops, throwing bottles at them, that's a level of force warranting pepper spray. This is just contempt of cop spraying. Last I checked the 1st amendment allows contempt of cops. I've been sprayed before (not at a protest, at training). It's serious nasty stuff, it's not like tear gas that goes away as soon as you move out of the cloud. It burns your eyes and stays on you for hours afterward. Water doesn't wash it off either. Love him or hate him, Finkenbinder didn't deserve to be sprayed. It's not clear he put his hands on the bike either, but even if he did a push back would be the most force warranted. Not spraying.

Suspect Allegedly Pulls Gun on Hired Driver, Hired Driver Pulls Legally Concealed Gun on Suspect, Gun Fight Ensues.
Sounds like a scene right out of a Tarantino movie. Everyone can spin it to the way they want, because we'll never know the 'what if' scenarios. Maybe had the guy played it cool, given the robber money or car keys he would taken it and left. Or maybe once the robber got what he wanted he'd have shot the victim anyway to eliminate witnesses. Who knows.
From a tactical point of view, it's pretty dumb to pull on someone who already has a gun pointed at you. And if the bad guy's gun is in reach, you can grab it and defect it from your chest faster than he can react and pull the trigger. Don't think so? Try it with a water pistol sometime, you can grab their hand and push it away before they can pull the trigger.
Bottom line is, him pulling a gun might have made the robber shoot him. Or pulling the gun might have saved the victim's life since the robber might have been planning to shoot him anyway. And the debate goes on.. spin away people
