Could Obama's easy denunciation of the Court's decision compare to the way the topic of torture pervaded political discourse post-9/11? It's not as if the US didn't torture prisoners pre-Bush, but the mere fact that torture became an acceptable topic of debate was a significant shift. Just as how, we're so captive to corporate influence, it's just acknowledged now, rather than contested.
