Lunchtime Quickie: Cyclist vs Car.
The car is in the wrong. People who think they can purposefully endanger the body of a human using their car suck, and smacking off the mirror is not an overreaction in such an event. Cars do not get the same rights or respect as people.

SUV Driver Who Allegedly Killed Cyclist Faces Up to Four Years in Prison.
Punishing motorists is hard because almost everyone is a motorist and people don't want to be held accountable for what they do behind the wheel. That's why people are lenient on DUIs, let people kill other road users with a slap on the wrist, and always try to blame the cyclist... Lots of people know they could be next, because so many people are idiots while driving.

Revoking driving privileges is a no-brainer. As an alternative to prison I think people like this could have to work cleaning up the dead person muck that results from accidents like this for 4 years, or transcribe audio recordings of victims families working through their grief for 4 years.

Our Local, Liberal Media: Not So Local, Not So Liberal.
Thanks for compiling this information. This is the stuff that sits below the surface that people don't realize and it's awesome to see the BS talking points from our "local" tv, print, and radio clowns stacked up against facts.

Nothing Protects Our Planet.
@19 & 22. It's more of a frame of reference issue. The embedded assumption in that language is that humans are uniquely special and the universe was made for us. And all Charles is saying is, "no, it's not and it bugs me when those assumptions are embedded in the language from the media"

Lots of hate here... What Charles is saying isn't that far out. He's calling out how embedded anthropocentrism is in our media.

War on Cars, Pedestrian Edition.
Denny Triangle rocks, don't be jealous. Ravenna? Hah! Yuppy Suburbs... Madison Park? That's the countryside and definitely not walkable. Green Lake? Gag... It's a bunch of SUVs and baby carriages. Forget about it. Denny Triangle is central to everything, walkable, and has some of the best restaurants in town.
