This kickstarter reminds me of the guy who throws together a costume a half hour before a Halloween party and ends up getting endless praise for it while the people who spent months working on theirs sulk in the corner totally ignored.

Well as long as they have a reason--the bullets don't hurt as much. It does sound like CNN is trying to down play the extent of the problem. I think it is a good distinction to note that violence has different causes and therefore if you are going to address it, you will probably need to take a multifaceted approach. I don't find it is surprising that only 15 were random attacks--generally violence is directed at a person in response to something specific.

I agree--the multiple choppers hovering over the hill all evening weren't warranted for what was going down yesterday. It was a nice evening, disrupted by constant chopper noise for what exactly? A few dozen 16 - 30 somethings yelling at cops and setting trash can fires?
commented on A Polite Request for Showgoers to SHUT THE FUCK UP
Unfortunately I've rarely seen a concert goer asking another concert goer to be quiet work out. Those talking already have little regard for their fellow concert goers, so asking them to keep it down generally is just going to lead to tension. If the venue doesn't deal with them, the only thing I've seen really work is if the performer does something. I've seen artists tackle it several ways--stop playing or play quieter and quieter until the crowd collectively hushes the talkers or on occasion I've seen artists call out specific people for talking. Not all artists are going to do that though, it should really be the venues job to create a good atmosphere for listening to music.
