Hmm. I think a huge part of their appeal (which is seriously lacking here) is their gritty totally rocking performances. I remember seeing them once at the place on north side of 5th Ave below the monorail...(what was the name of that place? It closed down a long time ago). Anyway, they put on an amazing performance. To top it all off Beth Ditto ripped off her shirt and did the last few songs in her bra that she said had been purchased the week before at a Wal Mart somewhere in the south. It was an amazing show. This new stuff sounds too polished.

In general I think I hate M.I.A. I know lots of people love her and that if I knew anything about music perhaps I would see that she was some type of revolutionary musical genius. Every time I listen to her I feel like I'm being beaten about the head by wiffle ball bats and frying pans simultaneously. That being said, I LOVE "Paper Planes." Its sooo catchy and makes for excellent running music.
