Dear Science.
Dude. Awesome. This is exactly what I have said to every person who whines in my direction about the health risk posed by Fukushima-- the whole world is already so damn full of toxic shit that you'd be hard pressed to notice any difference between before and after. And people look at me like I am crazy. Science rocks. We're all fucked.

SL Letter of the Day: Soft Focus.
Good advice Dan. I think a lot of young guys struggle with this sometimes, because we're growing up in a society that encourages us to think more than ever, about everything, which is a good thing- but the brain can become a source of interference with the more carnal aspects of our bodies.
I want to add one thing that has helped me with situations where nerves get the better of my own body: Nurture and maintain a very active fantasy life. Fantasize while you masturbate about the things you are going to do when you're with a partner, vividly, in as much graphic detail as you can muster, hell even talk it out with yourself. In some cases, fantasy can actually be an ok substitute for the real thing, and when you do get to that moment with your partner, it's almost as if you have already been practicing, especially in this situation where the work to be done is really mental.

The Scare-Mongering, Diseased-Anus-Mongering HIV Prevention Ad That's Pissing People Off.
Thank you Dan! Totally with you on this one. This bizarro focus on removing the stigma from HIV has unfortunately done as much to hurt as to help. It's true, people living with the disease should certainly not face negative consequences from the community. But on the other hand, so many men I speak to now are completely blase about the danger. They figure their odds of getting infected are high enough that worrying too much is futile, and they also figure that if they get it, hey, there's no stigma any more! It's treatable! They are resilient!
I think someone does need a little sense slapped into them. I don't think this ad will really be able to do it, but something has to change. It has to come from the ground up, nothing any of these major national organizations do is ever going to help that much.

A New Site to Micro-Fund Individual Artist Projects.
This is bullshit. So you have to have already received a grant to even be eligible for consideration? Just what we're all used to hearing. This organization is doing nothing at all other than enforcing the artistic status quo. What looks at first glance to be a better, more arts-focused version of Kickstarter is actually just catering to people who are already in the scene. Thanks a lot.

No One Could Have Predicted.
@1: Thank christ you were the first commenter. You're exactly right, enthusiasm gap or no, we MUST vote Democratic if only to try and protect ourselves from the GOP. To vote for anyone else would be folly. The Dems are giving us a hard time right now but this is a 'lesser evil' situation unfortunately. If we allow our current situation with the Dems to add up to a bunch of GOP victories, then we'll really be fucked.
