I'm one of the gay-friendly, responsible-gun-ownership-respecting, fiscally-conservative young persons they're turning off. If the GOP implodes like this in 2016, and the Dems run a sensible, serious center-left candidate like Hillary Clinton, I'm yours. Swing for the left and run Warren or somebody like that, I'm not interested in that nut fight.

Despite what socialist idealists living in capitalist countries believe, socialist revolutions have a strong trend toward conformity. What's more non-conformist than gay sex? Commie darlings like Che "Round 'em Up" Guevara put gays in camps with others he considered mentally ill.

This is part of the weirdness of modern politics. Republicans want fiscal freedom and hate social freedom, Democrats vice versa. Che's uniform hatred of choice and diversity is at least consistent.

Dan, Dan, Dan, this is wholely _good_ for the country. If Iowa picks somebody who has a chance, then Iowa has this inordinate power over the country, and we get corn subsidies out the wazoo. If Iowans persist in picking nut-jobs, no real candidate will feel a need to pander to them, and we won't have the insanity of all-corn-syrup e'erthing, and corn ethanol fuel that's worse than oil.

Which would you rather have: a 100% anti-gay opposition party, or a 90%-and-declining anti-gay opposition party? Fact is, both parties are about more than this one issue, and otherwise gay-loving voters find it hard to swallow the Democrats' political load whole.
