Yeah, it's a copy of that.

As usual, Dan fails to acknowledge that the dog had an abusive owner: "Deputies arrested a 32-year-old man who had been drinking and threatened his family."

Maybe it was the arrogant way you wrote it.

Way to use this public forum to air a personal grievance. Yes, it did sound like sour grapes, and after hearing you out, it still sounded like sour grapes. Your personal life isn't news.

What's the deal with these posts? Does Dan Savage only hire people who hate pit bulls? It's unfortunate that someone who works so hard to fight discrimination in some areas is such a bigot in others.

First, the author takes a city-wide rather than a neighborhood view, when many people primarily frequent businesses in their neighborhood. I, for one, don't have a car, so I like that a few new places have opened up in locations I can walk to. Living in Capitol Hill, I'm not about to walk to Ballard or West Seattle to get cupcakes, so it's nice to have a location in my neighborhood.

Second, is the author really so upset about sweets? That seems like such a trivial thing to be annoyed about. If you don't want them (and they make you want to vomit), the easy solution is not to eat them. No one is forcing you. Leave for the people who enjoy the treats. This article strikes me as along the lines of people who write comments on blogs about how much they hate the authors: SO WHY READ IT? If you're sick of desserts, don't eat them.

Hm... That looks like a dog that was bred to fight. I'm surprised Dan allows pictures of it on this site.

@33 Well, now I'm certain that you're paranoid. Most pitbulls aren't bred to be aggressive, and if it lives right by a busy bike path and showed no interest in a passing biker, that's because it wasn't interested. That being said, it probably would be wise to carry a fog horn or something to scare off dogs that might give chase, whatever breed they may be.

That's a good suggestion, Dan. Perhaps you could word it more constructively and pass it along to the people who actually have a say in these matters.

You could have closed the gate when you passed it the first time around. Given that the dog had no interest in you, though, I suspect you're just paranoid (though I, too, have had dogs chase me on my bike -- all kinds of dogs; the behavior isn't limited to one breed).

@14 Actually, most articles about pit bulls attacking someone talk about the fact that the owner is a convict. Bad owners abuse dogs; abused dogs have problems.
