Nothing changes until people are ostracized for owning guns. "Sorry my kids can't play with your kids because you have guns in the house."
"Sorry we can't come over to dinner." etc.
Then the gun folks hang out with gun folks until they kill each other off. Remember that the 300 million privately owned guns are held by only 60 million people. They average 5 guns a head. Eventually they will use them on one another. It is just too dangerous to even be around them.

Bear in mind the Reid is a Mormon too. The very very clear rule is "NEVER EVER dis another LDS member" So for Harry to do this is really indicative of something worth investigating and taking seriously. To go against the church like this is a big big deal.

I am tired of hearing what a success the Salt Lake City Olympics was. It was only a success if you didn't go. It was expensive (especially for one of the least expensive cities in the U.S.), uncomfortable, confused and creepy. You had to buy a membership to a club to get a drink. Or they made you drink in a tent in public park in the middle of winter (not making this up folks). They shoved Mormonism down your throught at every opportunity including having plenty of their 19 year-old "elders" trying to recruit my German friends every time they stepped out of doors. Ugh!! It was only a success if you were a Mormon business owner.

I spent 6 years in the Navy and it was never a strong selling point for the ladies. And I have no problem with his girlfriend dumping him over joining up. What did he expect? Until women decide that sleeping with military guys and conservative assholes (and I know not all military personnel are conservs) we will see no improvement. But women seem to think that they can overlook the shitty parts of their asshole BFs and husbands and focus on the good parts. Look at the divorce rates and family violence rates in the military... it just doesn't work ladies. Dumping the jarhead/squid/ground-pounder/airdale is the sane thing to do... most of the time.

The problem is that we don't know which one is liberal and which one is an asshat. I am guessing he is the dickweed because if he were a reasonable, thinking person, he would be able to compromise. She isn't the issue; he is. So yeah, dump her. She deserves better than you.
