To all the people saying that these wands are already used in abortions or that women who are getting abortions can expect foreign objects shoved up their vaginas, there are 2 problems with this:

1) Some abortions, if it's very early in the pregnancy, only require taking a pill so it's non-invasive.

2) A woman has to consent to every part of the process. Agreeing to one painful, possibly embarrassing, procedure does not mean she has to be open to others. And, if it is unneccessary, it will only cause more pain and possibly shame at not having control over the process.

And these are (or should be) moot points because a woman is a person and it's every person's right to consent when it comes to medical procedures!

I think it's messed up that she's going to sleep with him only 3 weeks after her best friend's suicide.

That made me nauseous. At least the father pleaded guilty. But why would his sentence be only 22 years? He killed a child. And his wife's sentence will probably be only 12? She was complicit. She aided and abetted. They should both get life.

The Tennessee couple that wrote the book are despicable. How can the wife just sit there smiling? How can the husband say it has nothing to do with them?

It's times like this when I wish I believed in God. Then, the little girl would be in Heaven.

Jesus. Awful. It reminds me of "The Magdalene Sisters".

That's just what I was going to write, seatackled.

I agree with #130 and it's remarkable.

Jennifer, I have often thought of what happened to you and your partner. It terrifies me to know such things happen. But your bravery truly is inspirational. There's nothing a person cannot overcome. You embody that. I wish you continued strength and peace.

I think if Bachmann were having to defend himself from being a bigot, THAT would be payback. As it is, how is this any different from years before when someone was in the closet and vociferously denying they were gay? The one thing that's different is that he is lying when he says he doesn't do conversion therapy. That says a lot more about gay progress, that trying to turn gay people straight is considered unpopular.

He probably is gay. Let's make fun of him for being in the closet, for being a hypocrite. Not for his lisp and walk.

To the people blaming the parents for letting him walk home alone in New York, you've either got a skewed perception of New York or of childhood. Borough Park is a safe neighborhood. He asked his parents to let him walk home alone and they agreed to meet him halfway, so he only walked by himself for about 5 blocks. He also had practiced the route.

I grew up in another safe neighborhood in Brooklyn. At age 7, I begged my parents to let me walk to school alone which was about 6 blocks away. After a dry run, I was allowed to and I walked alone to school for a couple of years until my sister was old enough to walk with me.

This type of tragedy is, thank god, not a common occurrence. There's no need to blame the parents.

I second #1. That was really funny.

This is so awful. The alleged killer actually only lived one neighborhood away from me. I don't understand why these things happen. I never will.
