Is anyone else confused by the fact that it is a commuter mug?

Good for Lindy! Living in Seattle is a game of chicken: who can stick out the crappy weather and passive-aggressive jerks longer.

Ugh. Truth is, most bicyclists are upper-middle class white males. How many poor single parents do you see on a bike? You want a tax rebate? How about a tax on your stupid bike shorts? You think you are saving the world? Truth is, where do you think the fancy free-range meal you get from Whole Foods comes from? It isn't beamed in. It comes by way of large diesel trucks. You are all a bunch of self-absorbed fucktards who expect everyone to marvel at your junk through unwashed spandex while you save the world. You are the reason I am proud to be a woman, a mother and not a fucktard like you.
Good day sir.

No bicycles don't pay for shit, even incidentally (my car tabs don't pay for my scooter, I have to pay for both). If you all would pony up money for the luxury of having a ridiculous lane (that no one pays attention to) maybe the money used for that could have gone to save bus service (instead of yet another car tab fee).
Pay up or shut up!
Aug 27, 2011 SMP commented on Winning in Wallingford.
Who paid for those bike lanes to be painted? They must have been paid for by those bicycle tab fees, right?

I would gladly ride a bike if it meant I didn't look like a wet harried mess everywhere I went. How exactly do you carry groceries, work projects etc. on a bike? How do you not look like a lame hipster loser riding one? How do you avoid helmet head and not have a giant dirty wet stain on your ass when it is raining? Bikes are not a real solution to our transportation crisis.
Instead of wasting all this money painting bike lanes that no one (including cyclists) are going to pay attention to, why don't we invest in some real public transportation like a real city does.
Oh, and cyclists, when you start paying for the privilege of using the roads, you can get all uppity about cars.

At least none of you ever had to change your name because of a restaurant-related snafu. It was me, a local political blogger and his ill-behaved demon spawn that got me fired from my last food service job.
But thankfully, four years later I am working a fabulous job, supporting my family and tipping more than 20 percent.

She will not ever be happy in any relationship she has because it sounds like her "life" ended in high school (and apparently in the arms of her "first love"). I feel sorry for her children who have a mother who is so self involved, so callous, so damaged beyond repair that they will be lucky to pay for their college tuition with the money they receive from their future stints on Teen Mom.
And to LW - once you have kids, all bets are off. If you have a man at home who is willing to put up with your sorry ass and provide for you and your kids - you best stay put. Just like you can't fit into your powder blue prom dress anymore, relationships from high school shouldn't fit in your "adult" life either.

If our dumbass government won't allow gays to marry why don't they initiate a lifelong ban on marriage for assholes like this woman and for anyone stupid enough to get her pregnant.

My son went to Washington last year (he's in APP and went to Hamilton with the split.) I am a single mom and at the time was marginally employed. I felt shamed for not paying for private lessons and the instructor singled my son out for being a "troublemaker." The final straw was when I couldn't afford to buy dress shoes for my son for the concert. They said that he would not be able to perform without dress shoes. The email correspondence was infuriating. They told me I should have asked for charity. The program is elitist. I contacted the Superintendent at the end of the school year and complained. This is what I believe is her solution.

I cry bullshit on that one. My boyfriend has - on more than one occasion - stripped me out of my size 2 skinny jeans without even unbuttoning / unzipping them.

It is a cycle that you cannot get out of easily - and many of us are only a paycheck or two away from financial disaster. That being said, as a woman, I do get a little skeeved out by some of the panhandlers. I cannot give money, but I do give them the dignity of looking them in the eye and smiling. When you are on the streets - like I was in the early 90s - you begin to feel invisible. Granted many homeless have mental health and/or drug problems (you would have to be crazy to live on the streets, right?) But some are also unregistered sex offenders and minor criminals. The only solution is a little bit of socialism mixed with compassion. Treat them like human beings, then get them treatment and get them back into society (if possible.) I'd pay for that!
