If something is a priority you don't "fold it in" somewhere for administrative reasons. Nickels did the same when he tried to merge the Women's Commission with the Human Rights Commission (though he eliminated a staffer). It's a message you send to the community about what's important.

And I think we can all agree to disagree about the crime downtown.

Violent crime may be down, but street disorder is certainly worse. More aggressive behavior - panhandling, loitering, drug dealing in plain site. Regardless if someone is stabbed or not, it's what makes people "feel" unsafe and should be controlled.

@11/JAT - I actually DON'T agree this is the right way to fix the wage problem, true enough. But that's not the point either. Our boy Mike said we need a process, fine, but right now there ISN'T a process. He can't just pull one out of his ass and start "applying" it.
