Requiem for Perry Lorenzo.
Too bad you didn't get a chance to hear him, Gina. Without a doubt, going to his Overtures to the Opera lectures was frequently the highlight of going to the opera. I sometimes enjoyed his lecture more than the actual opera. He was one of those rare teachers who was able to interweave what was happening culturally and politically at the time the opera was written, with humor and musical examples. Suddenly it wasn't just a bunch of people singing at each other on the stage -- you understood what they were singing about and why it was sad/poignant/infuriating/awful/funny. You felt like an insider to an inside joke.
Anyway, I am truly saddened to learn of his passing.

"My God Is About Reproduction".
I have to admit, I'm not too sure what a "purr and just" god is. Does she worship cats? Isn't there something about that in the bible?

Whether He Deserved It or Not....
I know good manners are important and all, but I'm glad that the people I most often eat with (a roommate and two dogs) are unconcerned with such mannered fussiness over corn on the cob and pits -- at least so long as they get some (the dogs, not the roommate).

Election Officials Reverse R-71 Error Rate.
Loveschild must be creaming herself, although this does sort of blow her massive gay conspiracy theory out of the water (although I'm sure she has some other imaginary evils waiting in the wings to comfort her bigotry, if needed).
