@7 it's not Officer Christopher Harris, Harris is the one who died. Matt Paul is the deputy who shoved him into the wall. And Sheriff Urquhart became Sheriff in 2012, well after that event occurred in 2009. He has made no decision "letting" Paul remain on the force. You can't retroactively go back and punish someone for something they did when a past administration refused to take action. It's called due process.

Dan Satterberg could still make a charging decision, however...remains to be seen if that will ever happen.

@22

Your outrage is misplaced. Saulet's conduct has been written about extensively by other reporters in the past. Holden is simply reporting his own personal experience with Saulet.

Urquhart was sworn in as Sheriff last November. The Sheriff cannot take action against someone until after an internal investigation and a Laudermill hearing is held. The very first time Saulet ever appeared in front of Urquhart for a Laudermill hearing, he was demoted. I'd call this progress, and a signal that Urquhart takes Saulet a hell of a lot more seriously than previous Sheriffs have.

Here's hoping the readers had enough sense to vote for John Urquhart rather than Republican Steve Strachan. Urquhart is solely endorsed by over 20 Democratic organizations, FUSE, Publicola, and has the highest SEAMEC rating in the race.

Urquhart also was in favor of I-502 five months before Strachan finally endorsed it, and Urquhart also held a joint fundraiser with the Approve R-74 campaign. Strachan, on the other hand, held a fundraiser called "Shootin' with the Sheriff" at a gun range in Bellevue in one of the worst years for gun violence in our city's history.

And don't even get me started on the two terrible audits of the Sheriff's Office, the 100 lost citizen complaints, the $9 million sexual harassment lawsuit, and a sustained ethics violation because Strachan was campaigning in uniform at the King County Republican Picnic.

For accountability and a needed change in the Sheriff's Office, vote John Urquhart for Sheriff.

The only race The Stranger has it wrong on is the Sheriff's race. Do your research, vote John Urquhart for Sheriff. He's the more progressive candidate, and the other guy has just been a disaster since he's been there.

Sheriff candidate John Urquhart was also there and gave a rousing speech about the importance of police protecting LGBT rights. He won a lot of votes that night, and I strongly encourage Sloggers to research the endorsements of each candidate for sheriff.

Keep that positive messaging from Strachan coming! Oh wait...he can only sling mud. He better be careful, wouldn't want too much mud getting on that pretty little uniform of his he was campaigning in at the GOP picnic. Hope it was worth it!

Clearly Steve Strachan's campaign is desperate and flailing, and they know the only way to win this race is to destroy a good person's reputation who has served the public for 36 years. Frankly, I find it sad. Looking forward to having John Urquhart as my Sheriff.

Why oh why did The Stranger endorse Steve Strachan?? He's only been endorsed by Republicans and the Seattle Times. Urquhart is clearly the more progressive candidate, having been endorsed by FUSE, over 20 Democratic organizations, and he even did better with SEAMEC. He even held a joint fundraiser for R-74 where Ed Murray, another endorser, spoke! He gave a speech last night at the Stranger Voting Party, and he was great!

It seems like these women and Strachan's campaign have a political agenda, and it's not surprising that they're finally speaking out two weeks before an election.

After hearing him speak tonight at the event, and after researching his opponent more, I am honestly baffled as to why the SECB did not endorse John Urquhart for Sheriff. First of all, it took stones for Urquhart to show up when he wasn't endorsed, but he is the clear choice for progressives! He has a higher SEAMEC rating, and he is the sole endorsee of FUSE and over 20 Democratic organizations.

What gives? I encourage everyone to do their own research on this race.
