Seattle's goal has always been to be lily white ever since the Denny party landed on Alki. Displacement has been par for the course for years. They displaced the Duwamish to get the area known as Pioneer Square, they displaced the Japanese in interment camps during WWII (didn't see any German American internment camps. Hmmm), and now this. So it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone and if it is, it's probably the latte sipping, KEXP listening, Obama sticker on the car bearing hipsters naive enough to think we are in a post racial society because a dark person in favor of all marriages is in the white house. Puhleeze!

If Jack (load) White is the savior of rock, I might as well put my bass down and stick sewing needles into my eardrums. God I hate that guy and any pod scum with opposable digits who kiss his ass.

No Star Wars??? Are you fucking kidding me??? I know some snobs are going to argue that it's not sci-fi and it's fashionable to rip into Lucas. But you can't deny its impact on society and popular culture. Over half of the movies made after 1977 owe their existence in whole or in part to Star Wars. No Star Wars, no deal!

Isn't steampunk just the goth subculture with a different name because the mainstream hasn't co-opted the term yet? They seem to share the same bespectacled fat chicks.

Seattle has become the place to go for music careers to die. That, or to receive pointless adulation from a small and insignificant base. There are bands and musicians here who sell out constantly at any given venue that couldn't even get arrested outside the Northwest. Take a page from Hendrix and Nirvana's books. Get the hell out of Dodge while the gettin's good.

As a kid I remember watching him on TV as he trotted around the stage in these oversized high heeled shoes. It kinds makes sense now after reading this article. He's nuttier than a crap fight in a monkey house.

All that is missing is a scene where the wild things and max are all sitting around in a coffee house with their horn rimmed non-prescription glasses, sipping lattes, and discussing the the finer points of the Beta Band while whining about how miserable their lives are and trying to one up each others' therapy session anecdotes. This movie seems like your basic throwaway, hipster, arthouse fodder. I would imagine most Seattleites would like this film.
